The car pulled into a parking spot outside Grey Sloan Memorial, and Carina turned off the ignition. She looked at Maya, who was taking another deep breath, steeling herself for what was about to happen.

Carina's expression was soft, but her eyes held a fierce determination. "You ready, Bambina? We're going in there, and we're going to do this. For us, and our future."

Maya took a final deep breath and nodded, her resolve strengthening. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's do this, Carina."

Together, they grabbed their bags and got out of the car, walking towards the entrance of the hospital. Their steps echoed on the pavement, the sound a rhythmic, nervous beat that matched their heartbeats.

As they walked into the hospital, the sterile environment and the faint smell of antiseptic greeted them. Carina wrapped her arm around Maya's waist, pulling her close as they headed towards the OB-GYN department.

The elevator ride seemed to take forever, the silence between them filled with anticipation and a hint of excitement. Finally, they arrived on the right floor, and the doors opened with a soft 'ding'.

As they walked down the hallway, Carina noticed that Maya's steps were slower than usual, her head ducked slightly. She leaned in closer to whisper in Maya's ear. "You're doing great, Bambina. Just breathe, okay? We're almost there."

The front desk nurse at the OB-GYN department looked up as they approached, her smile warm and professional. "Hello, how can I help you today?"

Carina took the lead, her voice steady despite the nervous tension between them. "We have an appointment for an implantation procedure."

The nurse checked her computer for a moment and nodded. "Ah, yes, I have it right here. Let me just check a few things with you... Name and date of birth please?"

Maya looked at the nurse. "Maya Bishop date of birth is August 26th 1992."

The nurse typed the information into the computer, then looked up at them again. "Any allergies or medications that you're currently taking, Ms. Bishop?"

Maya looked at the nurse "I am taking epilepsy medicine for my epilepsy."

The nurse noted it down and nodded, then turned her attention to Carina. "And you'll be accompanying her today?"

Carina affirmed that she would, her arm still wrapped around Maya's waist in a gesture of support and comfort.

The nurse continued to check a few more things before looking back up at them. "Okay, everything seems to be in order. You can go ahead and take a seat in the waiting area, and a nurse will come get you shortly."

Carina thanked the nurse, and they headed towards the waiting area, finding two chairs side by side. They sat down, and Carina could feel the tension radiating from Maya.

She put her hand on Maya's knee, giving it a gentle squeeze. "You're doing great, Bambina. Just breathe, and try to relax, okay? Everything's going to be fine."

Maya nodded, though her hands were still trembling slightly. They sat in silence for a while, the minutes ticking by slowly. Carina could see that Maya's nerves were getting the better of her.

She leaned closer, speaking in a soft whisper. "Hey, listen to me, Bambina. I know you're scared and nervous, but I'm right here with you. We're in this together, remember? And no matter what happens today, we'll get through it together."

Maya's shoulders sagged a little as she exhaled, the gentle caress of Carina's words calming her somewhat. She reached out and took Carina's hand, their fingers intertwining tightly.
