Maya's heart pounded harder at the thought of the retrieval process. "How long will the procedure take?"

Addison answered, her tone confident yet caring. "The egg retrieval itself usually takes around 30-45 minutes. You'll be under light anaesthesia, so you won't feel anything during the procedure. But the entire process from start to finish will probably take about 2-3 hours, including recovery time."

Maya nodded, trying to focus on the positive aspects rather than the anxiety. "Okay, I understand. So I'll be asleep during the actual retrieval, right? I won't feel a thing?"

Addison nodded again, reassuring Maya further. "That's correct, Ms. Bishop. You will be asleep during the entire retrieval procedure. You won't feel any pain or discomfort, and you'll wake up once it's all done."

Carina's hand squeezed Maya's even tighter, her voice laced with support. "See, Bambina? It'll be over before you know it. And you'll be asleep the whole time."

Maya took another deep breath, feeling more reassured. "Right, that's true. I just need to relax and let the doctors do their job. And everything will be fine."

Addison smiled at Maya's determination, pleased by her positive attitude. "Exactly, Ms. Bishop. It's perfectly normal to feel anxious, but I assure you our team will take excellent care of you. And once the procedure is done, we'll have the eggs we need for the next step in the process."

Maya managed a small smile, her trust in Addison and the medical team growing. "Thank you, Dr. Montgomery. I'm feeling a lot more reassured now. Let's do this."

Addison nodded, signaling the nurse to prepare the necessary equipment for the retrieval. "Excellent, Ms. Bishop. I'm glad you're feeling more reassured. We'll start getting everything ready for the egg retrieval. I'll come back once the operating room is prepared, and we'll get started."

Maya and Carina waited anxiously as Addison left the room. Carina remained by Maya's side, her hand still holding hers tightly. The silence in the room was filled with unspoken anxieties, but also a sense of unwavering determination.

After leaving Maya and Carina's room, Addison walked into the nurses' station and found Meredith Grey chatting with another nurse.

Addison approached Meredith and waited until she was free from her conversation before speaking up. "Hey, Mer. Got a minute?"

Meredith turned to Addison with a smile, immediately noticing the look on her face. "Hey, Addie. Sure, what's going on?"

Addison pulled Meredith into a closet "I miss you."

Meredith was taken slightly off guard by Addison's abrupt confession. As they stood in the small closet, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy hospital, she responded, her voice soft. "I miss you too."

Addison let out a breath that she didn't realize she was holding. The weight of the admission lifted some of the stress from her shoulders. "I swear, Mer. If I have to talk to one more intern about how to take basic blood pressure without screwing it up, I'm going to scream."

Meredith chuckled, her lips curving into a small smirk. "That bad, huh?"

Addison leaned against the wall of the closet, her expression tired but amused. "You have no idea. I feel like I'm teaching a bunch of toddlers how to use a stethoscope."

Meredith rolled her eyes in solidarity. "Yeah, I feel that. Been there, done that. Try dealing with interns who can't even pronounce the names of basic drugs."

Addison got page back to Maya room "I got to go love you."

Meredith smiled back at Addison, her response genuine. "Love you too. See you later."
