The weight of the situation settled heavily on the team's shoulders. They knew they had to work fast and efficiently to ensure Maya's safety. The stakes were higher now, not only because she was a colleague and friend, but also because she was a future mother trying to build a family.

Andy took charge, her voice firm and steady. "Alright, let's focus on what we can do right now. Sullivan, Dean, get a neck collar and backboard set up. We need to stabilize her neck and spine before we move her. We don't know the extent of her injuries, so we need to assume the worst."

Sullivan and Dean quickly retrieved the necessary equipment from the aid car. They worked efficiently, securing the neck collar around Maya's neck and carefully positioning her on the backboard. Meanwhile, Ben and Megan assisted Andy, doing their best to keep Maya from moving too much.

The loud ringing of Maya's phone suddenly pierced through the air, interrupting the tense atmosphere. Ben and Andy exchanged a glance, recognizing Carina's name flashing on the screen.

Andy felt a pang in her heart as the realization hit her. They needed to inform Carina about the situation, but how? How could they break the news that her fiancée was involved in a car accident?

Ben noticed the internal struggle on Andy's face and spoke up, his voice gentle. "Andy, we need to call Carina. She deserves to know what's happening. I can do it if you want."

Andy hesitated for a moment, her emotions in turmoil. But she knew Ben was right. They couldn't keep this from Carina.

Andy nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah, you're right. Please... Please call her. But be gentle, okay?"

Ben nodded, understanding the weight of the message he had to deliver. He stepped away from the scene and dialed Carina's number, his heart heavy with the impending conversation.

Carina answered on the second ring, her voice sounding tired and a little raspy from the lingering illness. "Maya, is that you? I've been trying to call you for the past hour. Where are you?"

Ben's heart ached as he heard Carina's voice on the other end of the line. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the difficult conversation ahead. "Carina, it's... It's Ben. I'm with 19 right now, and... and I'm sorry to break it to you like this, but I need you to listen carefully."

Carina immediately sensed something was wrong. A mix of confusion and worry crept into her voice. "Ben? Why are you calling me from Maya's phone? Is everything okay? Where's Maya?"

Ben tried to choose his words carefully, knowing that he was about to deliver news that would shatter Carina's world. "Carina, I'm really sorry, but there's no easy way to say this. There's been an accident. Maya was involved."

Carina's heart dropped, her entire world suddenly feeling like it was crumbling. Her voice trembled as she spoke "What? What happened? Is she okay? Is she... Is she alive?"

Ben's throat tightened at the raw emotion in Carina's voice. "Yes, she's alive. She's currently unconscious, but we've stabilized her and are taking her to Grey Sloan right now. We'll do everything we can to help her, but I thought you should know."

Carina's mind spun with a million thoughts, her chest tightening with worry. "Okay, okay. I'll meet you at Grey Sloan. Can you... Can you tell me what happened? Was it bad?"

Ben exhaled slowly, the image of the accident still fresh in his mind. "From what we can tell, it was a two-car collision. One of the cars hit the cab Maya was in. We don't know the extent of her injuries yet, but we're doing everything we can to help her."
