Maya nodded in agreement, feeling a sense of relief that she wasn't being judged for her lifestyle.

Carina sat quietly by her side, listening intently to the doctor's questions and Maya's answers. She squeezed Maya's hand gently, offering a silent reassurance.

Dr. Montgomery gave them both a warm smile before continuing. "Now that we've covered the questions, I would like to perform an ultrasound to get a better idea of your reproductive health. Is that alright with you, Maya?"

Maya felt a mix of excitement and nerves, but nodded her agreement. "Yes, that's fine. I'm ready for the ultrasound."

Dr. Montgomery got up from their chair and moved over to the ultrasound machine. She gestured for Maya to hop up onto the examination table.

Carina helped Maya get situated on the table, her hand never leaving hers.

The room fell into a relative silence as Dr. Montgomery prepared the machine. "Alright, Maya, I'm going to apply some ultrasound gel now. It might be a bit cold, just a heads up."

Maya braced herself for the coldness, wincing slightly as the gel made contact with her skin. Carina smiled down at her, rubbing her hand reassuringly.

Dr. Montgomery grabbed the ultrasound wand and carefully placed it on Maya's abdomen. The screen flickered to life, displaying a black-and-white image of Maya's internal organs. Dr. Montgomery moved the wand around, trying to find the right angle.

As the image came into focus, the doctor's face lit up. "Ah, there it is. Your uterus and ovaries are visible, and they look good."

She moved the wand a bit more, trying to get a clearer view. "Now, I want to check your ovarian reserve. This will give us an idea of your current fertility."

Maya felt a wave of nervousness and anticipation. This was it, the moment they'd find out if her fertility was healthy.

Carina squeezed her hand, her eyes fixed on the screen.

A few moments later, Dr. Montgomery smiled again. "Everything appears to be normal. You have a healthy ovarian reserve, which means you have a good number of eggs for your age."

Maya exhaled a sigh of relief. This was good news, and she couldn't help but feel a wave of relief wash over her.

Carina's eyes widened, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "That's great, right? It means we have a good chance?"

Dr. Montgomery smiled, nodding her head. "Yes, it's a positive indicator of fertility. Your ovarian reserve is within the normal range, which means you have a healthy number of eggs available for conception. This is a good start for your family planning journey."

Maya looked at Dr. Montgomery and said "Can we start the IVF process please ."

Dr. Montgomery looked up at Maya, understanding the seriousness of her question. "Before we start the IVF process, there are a few more things we need to discuss. First, have you and your fiancée considered the costs associated with IVF? It can be quite expensive, and you'll need to consider your financial situation."

Maya nodded, already having thought about that. "We've discussed it, and we're willing to make the financial commitment. We understand that IVF can be expensive, but we think it's worth it for us to have a family."

Dr. Montgomery nodded. "That's good to hear. IVF is not a guaranteed success, but it does increase your chances of pregnancy. There are also some risks and side effects to consider, like the possibility of multiples or complications during pregnancy. Are you both prepared for that?"
