The Cross

I wonder when Jesus was on the cross
Did the wood he was nailed to remind him of home?
Of simpler days
When he would carve and build things out of his own creation
Did the rough patches remind him a good day's work?
Of lessons taught by Joseph

I wonder when Jesus was on the cross Did
And he saw his mother weeping for him
Did he remember the times he could crawl into her arm for comfort?
When she would kiss away his "ouchies"
When she could protect him

I wonder how Mary felt?
She was given this miracle baby
Taught him everything
Held him through storms
Kissed away each tear
She then had to watch him leave to preach the good news
Not knowing if she would see him again
Then to see her boy
Her baby boy suffering for her sins and for the world

I wonder how helpless she felt
How she probably wanted to pull him off
Wrap him in her arms like she did when he was going
And kiss away all the tears
How she wanted to hurt those who hurt her baby boy
I wonder the anger she felt
As she watched those who praise her son
Turn on him so violently I wonder if she too asked god why he forsake her son

I wonder how Mary felt when her son
Jesus Christ the savior of the world
Returned the favor
And kisses away her tears
Held her tight in his arm when things got heavy
Who protect her from the the storms to the spirit

I wonder so many things
Like how am I worthy enough
For Jesus
The commander of heaven's army
The creator of the world
The son of the father himself
Died and suffered on the cross for me
