A/N THIS CHAPTER IS A BIT DIFFERENT TO MY LAST ONE
TW// SEXY KIDNAPPER ALERT
Taylor's POV
The first time Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce crossed paths, it wasn't under stadium lights or at some glitzy Hollywood party. It was in the middle of a storm, in an underground parking garage in downtown Chicago, where Taylor had just uncovered something she wasn't supposed to see.
She had been following a lead for weeks—a whisper about an illegal betting ring tied to the highest levels of professional sports. Someone in the NFL was involved. Big names. Powerful people. And as she pieced together the puzzle, one name kept coming up: Travis Kelce.
At first, she didn't believe it. She'd seen him in interviews—charming, larger than life, the kind of guy who made people feel at ease. He wasn't a villain. But facts were facts, and her source had given her something undeniable. So she went looking for answers.
And that's how she found herself pinned against the hood of her car, rain pouring around her, staring into the furious eyes of the very man she was investigating.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Travis growled, his grip tight around her wrist, keeping her from escaping.
Taylor swallowed, pulse hammering. "Let me go."
"Not until you tell me why you've been following me."
She knew better than to let fear show. She met his glare head-on. "I think you already know."
A muscle ticked in his jaw. "You don't have a clue what you're getting yourself into."
"Then enlighten me."
Travis exhaled sharply, glancing around as if checking for prying eyes. When he spoke again, his voice was lower, almost desperate. "You need to drop this."
Taylor narrowed her eyes. "Why?"
"Because you're playing a game you can't win," he said. "And the people running it? They don't just ruin careers. They ruin lives."
Her stomach twisted. She knew it was dangerous—she'd always known. But hearing it from him, seeing the fear flicker behind his anger, made it real in a way she wasn't ready for.
Still, she wasn't backing down. "If you're in trouble, you can tell me."
Travis let out a bitter laugh. "You don't get it, do you? You digging into this puts both of us in danger."
Taylor studied him. He wasn't denying his involvement—but there was something else in his expression. Something protective. Was he trying to warn her? Or was he just trying to scare her off?
Either way, she wasn't leaving without answers.
"I can't walk away," she said firmly. "Not when people are getting hurt."
Travis' grip on her wrist tightened for a brief second before he let go, raking a hand through his wet hair. "Damn it, Taylor."
She waited, heartbeat thudding.
Finally, he sighed. "You really want the truth?"
"Yes."
His blue eyes locked onto hers, full of something she couldn't quite name. And then, with a reluctant nod, he muttered, "Then get in the car."
---
The tension in the air was suffocating as Taylor sat in the dimly lit penthouse, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She glared at Travis from across the room, her heartbeat pounding in her ears. He leaned against the counter, arms folded, watching her with an amused smirk that made her want to throw something at his head.
"You know, for someone who despises me so much, you sure do end up in my presence a lot," he mused, tilting his head slightly.
Taylor scoffed. "Yeah, well, I didn't exactly plan on being kidnapped by you tonight."
Travis chuckled, the sound deep and infuriatingly attractive. "Kidnapped is a strong word, sweetheart. I saved you. You were walking into a trap."
"And you're my saviour now?" she shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I find that hard to believe, considering you're usually the one setting the traps."
He pushed off the counter, his smirk fading just slightly. "If I wanted to trap you, Taylor, you wouldn't even know it."
Her stomach twisted at the dark promise in his voice. There was a reason Travis Kelce had a reputation. He was dangerous, calculating, always three steps ahead. And yet, somehow, she kept finding herself tangled up with him.
"Why should I trust you?" she asked, her voice quieter now, less defensive and more genuine.
He sighed, rubbing a hand over his jaw. "Because as much as it kills me to admit it, you and I? We're on the same side this time. Like it or not, I need you. And you need me."
Taylor hated how true that was. She had spent years working against Travis, always one-upping him, always trying to stay ahead. But now, with a target on her back, she was left with no choice but to trust the one person she had vowed never to rely on.
"Fine," she muttered, looking away. "But if you double-cross me—"
He grinned. "I wouldn't dream of it, sweetheart."
