Taylor's POV
I can't tell who's more nervous, me or Gracie. We've been pacing around my living room all morning, sipping coffee and waiting for the Grammy nomination livestream to start. My stomach's flipping with a mix of excitement and fear. No matter how many times this happens, it never really gets easier.
Gracie's clutching her coffee mug like it's a lifeline, her face a mix of excitement and dread. "I mean, whatever happens, I'm just... really happy to be here, you know?"
I smile at her, feeling that familiar rush of affection for my friend. "You're incredible, Gracie. And if they know what they're doing, they'll see that too."
Just as I finish my sentence, Travis bursts in from the kitchen with a plate of scrambled eggs and toast—his idea of "nervous energy management."
"Alright, I don't know much about Grammy noms," he says, setting the plate down on the coffee table with a flourish, "but I do know that you two need fuel. Can't be listening on an empty stomach."
He shoots us a grin, clearly trying to lighten the mood, and it works. Gracie giggles, taking a bite of toast, and I feel a wave of calm settle over me. Travis always has this way of grounding me, even when I'm tied up in knots.
"Thanks, babe," I say, reaching up to give his arm a squeeze. He gives me that warm smile, the one that says he'd do anything to keep me from stressing out right now.
The livestream finally starts, and we all go quiet, huddling on the couch together, the room filled with a mix of excitement, nerves, and Travis's enthusiastic snack commentary.
Travis' POV
So, I may not be a Grammy expert, but I've gotta say, watching these two nearly jump out of their skin is a whole new experience for me. Apart from that video of them writing us together in New York City where they almost burnt down the whole apartment I've never seen them so on edge, especially Taylor, who's usually the picture of calm. I know how much this stuff means to her, and if I can help keep the mood light, well, I'm all in.
"Alright, you two ready for this?" I ask, throwing my arms around their shoulders. They both lean in, eyes fixed on the screen like it's some kind of dramatic thriller.
As they start reading off the nominees, the anticipation in the room reaches a fever pitch. I'm sitting there, trying to read Taylor's expression to see how she's feeling, but she's locked in, biting her lip in that adorable way she does when she's really nervous.
When they finally get to the category Taylor's hoping for, her whole body goes tense. And then—
"Taylor Swift!"
The room erupts. I don't even know who shouted first—maybe it was Gracie or maybe it was me—but we're all clapping and cheering. Taylor's got her hands covering her mouth, eyes wide, and I feel this overwhelming pride just seeing her so happy.
"You did it!" Gracie exclaims, wrapping her arms around her.
I'm clapping like a madman. "That's right! Knew they couldn't overlook you, Superstar."
Taylor turns to me, eyes shining. "It's surreal every time. I mean, I know it's just a nomination, but—"
"Nope," I interrupt, grinning. "It's more than that. It's a whole career of hard work getting recognised, Tay. Don't sell yourself short."
She gives me a look, one of those soft smiles she reserves for moments like this, and I pull her into a hug.
