Travis' POV
Meeting Taylor's friends wasn't something I had mentally prepared for yet. I mean, sure, I've tackled 300-pound linemen and stared down Tom Brady in crunch time, but the thought of sitting across from people who knew Taylor better than I did? That was a whole new level of pressure.
"They're just regular people," Taylor said, looking up at me from her spot on the couch as she sipped her tea.
"Regular people don't casually vacation in the Hamptons and have their faces on billboards," I replied, pacing the room. "Your regular and my regular are two very different things."
Taylor laughed, the kind of laugh that made me forget my nerves for half a second. "You'll be fine. They're going to love you."
"Yeah, because I'm the guy dating Taylor Swift."
Her smile softened. "No, because you're Travis Kelce. Just be yourself. And don't mention anything too weird..."
"No promises," I said with a wink, though my stomach was still doing somersaults.
We arrived at a townhouse that screamed "classy," the kind of place that felt like it belonged in a movie. Taylor knocked on the door, and before I could even wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans, the door flew open.
"Oh my gosh, you're here!" Blake Lively.
I froze. My brain immediately short-circuited. This was fucking Serena van der Wodsen.
"Hi, Blake!" Taylor said, giving her a big hug like this was all completely normal.
Blake turned to me with a bright smile. "You must be Travis! It's so nice to meet you."
"Uh... hi." My voice came out an octave higher than usual, and I cleared my throat to try again. "Hi. Big fan. Huge fan."
Behind her, Ryan Reynolds appeared, casually leaning against the doorway with that trademark smirk. "Is this the famous Travis Kelce I've been hearing about?"
My brain did a full system reboot. Deadpool. Standing right there. Deadpool was talking to me.
"I—uh—yeah. That's me," I stammered.
Ryan walked up and gave me a firm handshake. "You play football, right? Big guy, lot of touchdowns?"
"Uh-huh," I managed.
Blake laughed, nudging Ryan. "Look at him, he's starstruck. You're breaking him, Ryan."
"Hey, I'm just a regular guy," Ryan said, winking at me. "Except, you know, better looking."
I finally found my footing enough to laugh. "Well, you're not wrong."
Taylor, ever the smooth one, slipped her hand into mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "Don't mind him, Trav. He's just jealous he doesn't have two Super Bowl rings."
Ryan gasped in mock horror. "Okay, Swift. That's a low blow."
As the evening went on, I loosened up. Blake and Ryan were hilarious, trading stories and jokes like they were putting on a private comedy show. At one point, Ryan pretended to "interview" me, asking the most ridiculous questions.
"So, Travis," he said, holding an imaginary microphone. "What's harder: catching a touchdown pass or dating the most famous woman on the planet?"
I glanced at Taylor, who was sitting next to me, her eyes twinkling with laughter. "Honestly? Both feel like winning the lottery."
"Aww," Blake cooed, placing a hand over her heart. "He's good."
"Don't encourage him," Taylor said, but she was smiling.
By the time we left, my nerves were long gone. Blake gave me a big hug, Ryan told me he'd be watching my games, and Taylor looked at me like I'd just scored the game-winning touchdown.
As we walked back to the car, I turned to her. "Okay, you were right. They're amazing."
"I told you," she said, grinning.
"But seriously, you didn't warn me who your friends were. I needed prep time" She laughed, leaning her head on my arm. "You handled it like a pro. They love you."
"Good," I said, sliding an arm around her shoulders. "Because I'm kinda in love with their friend."
Taylor looked up at me, her cheeks pink from the cool air and maybe, just maybe, my words. "I think she's pretty into you too."
