I step off the field energy buzzing around me. Something feels different. I mean why wouldn't it, everyone and their mother seems to have noticed who showed up to the game today. The person who came for ME. And not just any person, Taylor Fucking Allison Swift: my girlfriend.

I mean I definitely got put on the map and this is definitely the start of the crazy publicity she told me about but I'm not even mad about it.

I haven't even reached the locker room before the first of them — Marquez — slaps me on the back, his laughter ringing out.

"Yo, Kelce! Who knew you had a secret weapon in the stands tonight? You're pulling out all the stops!"

I can't help but grin as I grab a towel to wipe off the sweat and mud from the game. Sure, I had known she'd be here, and even warned the others about it even though they didn't believe me but having her actually in the stands, cheering me on, was a whole different thing. Every time I caught a pass or broke through a line, I felt her presence, somehow energising me from across the field.

"Hey, she's here for the team, too, not just me."

Lie Number One. Taylor was until about 2 months ago an Eagles fan but I think I swiftly, so to say, changed her mind.

"Oh, right. So, Taylor's gonna be watching my highlights reel, yeah?" he says laughing.

That one could be true. She's been a little too obsessed recently and has watched everything football to get ready for the game. It's kinda cute watching her watch episode after episode of some guy talking about downs and field goals.

The banter spreads quickly as more of my teammates catch wind that Taylor Swift was in attendance tonight. Chris sidles up, shaking his head with a mix of amusement and awe.

"Man, Kelce, you've got Taylor Swift out here watching you catch passes. Forget about the opposing team—how's anyone supposed to compete with that?"

"I mean, you saw me out there. Just had to make a good start to the season, right?" I say grinning.

Lie Number Two. I wasn't even thinking about the season or what Big Red wanted when I scored a touchdown and did it purely in a moment of boasting to show my girl what I was really made of.

It's kinda weird - some of the people talking to me - who are usually really reserved and serious laughing and congratulating me in a moment of awe and excitement.

My other tight end boy Noah approaches me as I head to the showers.

"Didn't realise you were such a Swiftie, bro. And here I thought I knew everything about you."

"Really? Pat figured it out weeks ago when I was playing Speak Now on repeat when I was in the team gym"

I'm pumped - not just from the cold drops of water hitting my warm sweaty skin but from the realisation I won't be heading home alone like I did for all of last season. I have someone waiting for me to congratulate me aside from my mom on the other side.

I walk back into the changing room as Pat begins to ambush me with questions from Britt. He honestly sounds like a teenage girl right now after finding out that she got tickets to see her favourite boy band.

I hear a shout of, "Shake It Off Kelce" and not gonna lie I'm loving the attention. Sometimes the guys give me a hard time but I haven't heard even the whisper of a single snide comment about the girl who I'm falling far too quick for.

"You guys are really acting like I planned this," I say, rolling my eyes as I pull on my hoodie. "Can't a guy just invite his... uh, friend to a game?"

Lie Number Three. Taylor officially became my girlfriend a month ago on Thursday. I try to skate around the idea that she is the love of my life already even though I've only just met her. Although she's not hiding our relationship as she did enough of that for almost 7 years we still both value our privacy.

L'Jarius arches an eyebrow, clearly not buying the casual "friend" label.

"Bro, you're trying to play it cool, but we all saw you checking the stands every time you got up from a tackle. Thought you'd get whiplash, man."

I can't help laughing shrugging as I try to play it off.

"You guys would be looking too if you had Taylor Swift in the stands, don't lie."

I hear a collective ooh from the room and I'm almost certain it's Shane who shouts "Facts!"

"Look, Trav, I just have one question. If she ever writes a song about you... think it'd be called Touchdown Heartbreak or End Zone Enchantment?" someone tells me.

"Alright, so what's the plan? Do we just start assuming Taylor's gonna be at all our home games now?"

I laugh slinging my bag over my shoulder.

"I'll see what I can do, but no promises. Can't have her stealing all my attention, right?"

"I think you're gonna be fighting off half of Kansas City if you keep this up, Kelce."

Marquez nudges me as I head out of the room, "Just so you know we're expecting Taylor to lead the team huddle from now on Trav - make sure to tell her that when you're sleeping or not sleeping whatever"

I blush but I think this is the happiest I've felt after a football game.
