We had finished up at the coffee shop and headed out to the car. The air felt dense as storm clouds started to form just above them. "Looks like it might rain." Micah said. I agreed with him and slid into the car, shutting the door behind me. Our hands grazed when we reached for the center console to grab the aux cord. I blushed and let him take it but he refused and plugged it into my phone. "Surprise me? Where would you like to go next?"
"How about a movie?" I asked hoping he would say yes.
"A movie doesn't sound too bad. How about I go get some pizza and we can watch a movie at my place?" Micah spoke softly.
I nodded my head and slid back in the car seat, resting my head on the head rest. Micah slowly maneuvered his hand over to my thigh, gripping it gently. A light pink hue spread across my face and I turned to look out the window to distract myself. The ride to his place was short but the rain pouring down made it damn near impossible to see the road ahead of us. Micah pulled over to the side of the road and waited till the rain died down. The music had been turned off as Micah engaged in conversation. "So Luca. Now that things have changed, Are you still going to be talking to Malachi?"
"I ended things. It was for the best. I don't think Malachi genuinely loved me for me. He acted like my body was more important and that's not what I want. I want a real and honest relationship. I know that sounds stupid considering what has happened." I fidgeted my hands in my lap as I spoke. Micah sighed but in a way that made it difficult to tell if he was relieved or upset. Micah dug into his pocket and retrieved a key. He handed it over, placing it in the palm of my hand. "This is a spare to my place. I meant to give it to you a while ago when we were together. Now that we are back together, I want to give it to you."
I gripped the key in my hand and smiled brightly. But it soon faded when Micah looked pissed off. His phone had gone off and he glanced down at the message that was glowing on his screen. I had asked what was wrong but was met with a phone screen shoved in my face. The text was from an unknown number.
- "I hope you like my sloppy seconds. He won't love you the way he loves me. I'll have him back in my arms soon enough. Bye."
"Micah ...it's him...but how did he get your number?"
Micah threw his phone on the dash, unlocked the car doors before stepping out in the rain. I was in disbelief and followed after him. The rain had already soaked through my clothes leaving me wet and cold. I rushed after him as he was walking in the opposite direction of his house. "Micah! Wait! Please!"
Micah stopped and turned to face me. His eyes were red and I couldn't tell if he was crying because of the rain. "Who do you love? Be honest Luca!"
"I am being honest. I love you Micah. I really do. I liked Malachi..yes but because I thought nobody would ever like someone like me. But things have changed. You changed me!"
Malachi walked forward but kept a distance between us. His facial features softened and he didn't seem that mad anymore. "I love you Luca!"
"I love you Micah!"
Micah rushed forward and our lips meshed together. Our bodies are perfectly in sync. He wasted no time lifting me up into his arms and holding me in the rain. My hands cupped his face as we kissed. We were lost in our own little world until the thunder clashed and we both got startled. We both chuckled at our romantic moments and he set me down gently before we raced back to the car. The inside of Micah's car instantly was soaked from our wet clothes but that didn't matter. Micah was able to see the road finally and we made it to his place. The second the door shut, love was in the air.
