I managed to stand up and head back inside. My eyes were puffy and dark but I kept my head low to avoid eye contact with anyone. The group was still together and laughing. I ducked into the arcade and fumbled with the quarters I had in my pocket. I inserted one into the claw machine and attempted to collect a small teddy bear. Within the first attempt, I managed to get it. I perked up and grabbed it from the slot, holding it tightly in my grasp. Michelle and a couple of her friends strolled in and noticed me. "Hey! You won?!"
"Yeah. First try." Michelle jumped with glee as she told me that it was the toughest machine in the arcade. That barely anyone was able to win it. A smug look on my face as I flaunted the toy in their faces for fun. Michelle punched my shoulder and chuckled. She darted to the photo booth machine with her friends. "Want to join?"
I shook my head and declined. I hated taking photos of myself. I took a seat on one of the chairs, waiting for Malachi to take them home. I waited for a couple more hours until Malachi peeked inside the room and motioned for me to follow. My stomach was growling and screaming for me to eat something but I refused to listen. Once we got into the car, Michelle started playing her music. I zoned out to the lyrics as we went home.
Upon arrival, I opened the car door and grabbed my bag from the back seat. I slung in over my shoulder and walked inside. Malachi brushed past me and went to his own room. I followed after hoping that he wasn't still upset with me. I felt my heart sink into my stomach. I knocked on the door and waited for anything. That's when a voice rang out. "Come in."
I opened the door and Malachi was stripping out of his shirt and hoodie. I admired his chiseled body, biting back a hot comment. "Are we okay?"
"I don't know, are we?" Malachi responded.
"I would hope so. I do love you."
"How can you love someone you don't trust?" Malachi kept at it with the negative comments. I was trying to avoid more drama by talking easily with him. "I want to...but you aren't being entirely honest at times."
"How so? Because of a girl I knew a long time ago and wants to go on a coffee date to catch up? I don't like her like that Luca. I am in love with you. Nobody else. I want you to trust me."
Malachi sighed and pinched the top of his nose in frustration. He walked up to me pulled me into an embrace, resting his chin on the top of my head. "I get jealous...I'm sorry."
"Jealousy is an ugly trait to have Luca. I'd hate to see you like that. I try to be honest with you and see you happy." Malachi kept me close as he tightened his grip on his body.
"I'm not perfect Malachi..Ive never done this relationship thing right."
Malachi pulled back and ruffled my hair with a cheesy grin on his face. "I love you Luca. Even with your flaws."
"So when are you going on that date? Or do we even call it a date at this point?"
Malachi lifted an eyebrow and thought for a moment as he spun me around to kiss me gently on the lips. "I'm just meeting up for a coffee. It's not a date. I promise.
Part of me believes that some of Malachi loves me...but that same deep dark invisible leash that holds me too him just keeps tightening.
4 hours later
It's the middle of the night and I honestly had no idea why my body refused to sleep. Malachi had his arms around me as he kept me close. A sinking feeling entered my stomach and I sat up, carefully brushing off his hands. The rain outside pattered against the window and a small breeze entered the open slit. I got up and tiptoed to the window, peering outside. I stared at the mesmering drops slid down the glass until my phone buzzed on the night stand. I picked up my phone and noticed it was Miles. We weren't on good terms but he still talked to me. I opened the message and clenched my hand into a fist reading it.
*Miles: Hey Luca. I know we aren't speaking much right now and honestly it's all my fault. Or should I say I'm sorry. I miss you man. I know you wouldn't purposely cheat on someone or be a home wrecker but it's hard when everyone is saying it. I hope that you can forgive me and we can hang out sometime.*
I sighed in disbelief. I was a major jerk...or worse an actual POS. I did cheat; on someone who didn't deserve it. I hurt a boy who only meant to bring me peace. I went back to someone who toys with my emotions. Hell we haven't been on one date. All we do is fuck. Maybe this wasn't the right decision. The same sinking feeling came back as I looked at Malachi. I set the phone down and crawled back into bed. Malachi instinctively cuddled against my back, his lips barely touching my sensitive skin. I felt the heat crawl across my face and it made me sick.
