"It was today?"
Mingyu was staring at the piece of plastic he had picked up from the ground near his roommate's door. The ID card told him not only his roommate's full name, course, and contact number, but as well as his birthday.
A date that Mingyu hadn't even realized he didn't know until now.
They'd been roommates for two years now, and as douchey of an excuse as it was for Mingyu to not really learn his roommate's birthday, he honestly just thought that Wonwoo's special day fell during the months when they were on school break and not literally in the middle of the first semester.
The dorm was quiet. It was right around this time that the two would be off to their classes. Wonwoo would leave first while Mingyu's would start two hours later.
They never really hung out.
Conflicting schedules, so they'd say.
Then again, they weren't really making the effort to sit down and at least talk about their days.
The reason?
They were simply tired of college and just wanted to go back to their dorm to rest, not having to keep up appearances and socialize even here in their own private space.
Just thinking about that exhausted both of the college boys' minds.
So yeah, they'd rather prefer this than fake smiles.
Mingyu was just about to place the student ID on the counter when he remembered his own birthdays.
They were loud, warm, and filled with friends that always put in the effort to be there for him. Even if it fell during exam week, they still set aside the time to at least buy him a cake, pull him somewhere more private, then sing him a song before going back to the grind again.
The real celebration came after they'd all managed to survive that hellish week.
"Haaa... I feel like he's just going to find me weird if I do whatever it is that I'm thinking right now."
Fuck.
That word had been uttered in Wonwoo's head for the past thirty minutes.
He'd been staring at the projector for just as long, his mind racing through the probable places where he could've misplaced that ID card of his.
Without it, he couldn't just easily get in and out of campus.
His solace place? The library?
Yeah. Can't get in there either.
Discounts?
Yeah, bye to that as well.
Life would just be more annoying without that thing with him.
"Where the hell did I even drop it?"
Classes ended, and Wonwoo immediately shot up from his seat and started retracing his steps, eyes on the ground, squinting just to make sure he didn't even miss a single thing.
To his utter dismay, it wasn't at the department. Not in the convenience store where he bought breakfast. Not at the cafeteria where he took a shortcut to his class. Not even on the campus grounds outside where he walked from his dorm to the college.
"Fuck this shit."
Wonwoo grumbled, his fingers gripping tightly onto his hair as he stood there on the green patch right in front of their dorm, ready to just make a scene from all the frustration building up inside him.
