"Well, who's this?"
Mingyu walked closer to the man sleeping on the bench. The tall figure was unfamiliar to him, his face hidden beneath one of the towels from the locker room. A soft snore escaped just as Mingyu stopped by his side.
"Huh? DK's friend? What's he doing here?" Mingyu muttered, lifting the towel just enough to reveal the man's features before setting it back down.
He was about to wake him up but noticed the dark circles under his eyes and decided to let him rest. Mingyu took a quick shower in the meantime, then stepped out to change. He was just about to leave when he saw the man still asleep on the bench. Mingyu hesitated for a moment, but after hearing the man's soft snores grow a little louder, he figured it wouldn't hurt to wait a few more minutes.
well....
Three hours pass.
"Ughhh..."
The man groaned, the towel slipping from his face as he sat up, rubbing his lower back after lying still on the wooden bench for hours.
"Rise and shine, princess," Mingyu said, sitting on the bench across from him.
He watched as the man rubbed his eyes, trying to wipe away the sleep.
"DK? Ugh, damn, my back hurts... oh... you're not DK," the man said, raising his brows at Mingyu, who just looked back at him, amused.
"Disappointed?"
"Umm... would you be offended if I said yeah?"
"No. I'd understand. DK already went home actually."
Mingyu leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he took a closer look at the man's face relieved to see that the sleep had done him some good. He looked a little less dead now.
"What?"
"Yeah, like three hours ago."
"That damn bastard," the man muttered, his sharp eyes narrowing even more after being told the person he'd been waiting for had bailed on him.
Seeing him look pissed, Mingyu reasoned and offered some consolation. "Maybe he called you?"
The man reached for his phone — 14 missed calls.
"Oh, damn, he did. Guess that's on me." He looked at Mingyu. "Are you guys still training?"
"No. Everyone went home too three hours ago."
"Then how come you're still here?" The man folded the towel, placing it neatly at the end of the bench where he'd found it, then mirrored Mingyu's posture. The distance between them shrank the moment he planted his elbows on his knees.
Taken aback, Mingyu blinked at him, a lump forming in his throat after the man casually leaned closer. His face remained stoic, as if they weren't the only two people in the empty locker room.
"Well... I kind of have to close this place. It's my turn for the week," Mingyu answered quietly.
The man sighed, leaning back as he scratched the back of his neck. "Damn, I'm so sorry. I didn't even mean to fall asleep here. I was just planning to lie down and wait for him."
Mingyu laughs. "Don't worry about it."
"You could've just woken me up though."
"Well, you looked like you needed the rest."
The man laughed awkwardly. " I looked that tired, huh?"
"I'd be lying if I said no."
"Well, you're right. I haven't been sleeping well and for some weird reason, I just got the best sleep ever here in your guys' locker room. I don't even know how that happened."
