I joined their group and Momo gave me a small smile. She seemed the most worried out of everyone, and the least determined.
Everyone seemed tense though. I think Midoriya and Ida were fighting, maybe not physically, but verbally at very least. Todoroki was watching everyone with the same serious expression as usual. Maybe even more serious now. Kirishima was determined. He led the group, keeping his eyes ahead the whole time.
"Midoriya," Ida said. The whole group stopped. They were tense. The two of them had definitely been fighting. But why? I had thought they were good friends. I guess I didn't have as good of a read on Ida as I had thought.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I shouldn't have hit you." Interesting. Ida bowed to Midoriya. "Forgive me."
"Ida, why did you change your mind and choose to join us?" Momo asked.
Midoriya piped up. "No, no, you don't have to explain anything." It seemed as if he felt responsible for the fight.
"Let me be clear," Ida said, standing up from his bow, "I'm coming because I don't condone your behavior. If there's even a hint that physical combat might break out, I'll make you retreat immediately. So I'm your watchman."
"Exactly what we needed," Todoroki said. It didn't sound like he was being sarcastic at all.
Momo dug in her pocket but kept her eyes on everyone else. "The same goes for me. Rescuing Bakugo is a job for the pros. Objectively, there's no reason for any of us to go after him. Howevre, I understand how you all feel, so I'm compromising." She pulled a receiver out of her pocket. That must show the tracker she had placed on the villain.
"Right," Todoroki said.
Kirishima nodded. "Understood."
The group moved on again. Recuing Bakugo without fighting? He was probably in the middle of the villain's hideout. How realistic was it really going to be? A stealth mission didn't really seem plausible. That was what Kirishima said we were going to do though. I... I believed him.
"Our travel time from here will be about two hours," Momo said, looking at her receiver. We were on a train heading towards the target. I sat next to Momo, across from Todoroki, who sat next to Kirishima. Ida and Midoriya were across the aisle.
"Just to be clear," Todoroki said to everyone, "you know we're going against everyone's wishes and being completely selfish by doing this. We can call this off if we want to."
"Does it look like I wanna turn back?" Kirishima said. "Bakugo wouldn't think twice about going after the villains, if he were here." He looked so frustrated.
"What about you, Midoriya?"
Midoriya actually thought about it. He didn't seem as reckless and determined as Kirishima. He gave turning back some thought. In the end though, he said: "I'm not turning back."
"L/n?"
I looked around. Ida and Momo didn't want to be here. Todoroki, Midoriya, and Kirishima couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Kirishima would probably fight us if we tried to stop him now.
"Let's do it."
Kamino Ward was busy for it being so late. All the lights were on in all the buildings. Every shop and store was still open. People crowded along the sidewalks and crossed over the roads.
"So this is Kamino War," Midoriya said.
"It's so crowded," Todoroki said.
Kirishima looked around, his face full of determination. "Those villains are hiding somewhere in this city." He set off. "Just tell me where to go!"
