I look away from the window and take deep breaths. It doesn't help. That smell is still in the air. I bet it's coming from those nomu. I close my eyes instead. I didn't see Bakugo anywhere. I didn't see anyone. I doubt they're here. This is probably a secondary hideout for the nomu.
I jump back onto the ledge and down into the alley. I trot back to the group, taking the back way again. They were whispering when I came into earshot.
"She just took a backway," Momo was saying.
"Why though?" Todoroki asked. "This way is faster. The warehouse is right across the street."
"Maybe she didn't want to be seen approaching from the front," Midoriya said.
"That would make sense," Ida agreed. "But how would she approach from any other angle? She'd have to travel a few blocks to get the road behind this warehouse."
Momo saw me out of the corner of her eye. "Oh, uh," she said, "I gotta go. I think I see her."
"Where?" Kirishima said. "We're coming."
"No! I'll go help her out."
"Help her out?"
Momo hurried away. Thankfully the others didn't follow. Momo followed me into the corner and pulled my clothes out of a bag she had made.
"Here you go," she said, then turned around.
I made sure there was no one nearby, then changed back and pulled the costume back on as quickly as I could.
"Okay," I said when I was done.
Momo turned around, then nodded and we both went back to the others.
"So?" Kirishima asked. "What did you find?"
"It looks mostly empty," I said. "But there's a lot of Nomu in there. I'm not sure if they're being made or just stored there. But there aren't any humans."
The others all looked sick.
"I want to see," Kirishima decided.
Kirishima stood on Todoroki's shoulders and Midoriya on Ida's. Kirishima had some night vision scope. He looked around inside.
"The place looks totally trashed. I don't see-" Kirishima cut off.
"What?" Midoriya asked.
"Back left." Kirishima handed the scope to Midoriya. He took it and looked through the bars of the window.
"No way. Those are Nomu."
"That's so gross," Kirishima said. He paused, tilting his head a little. Is he trying to listen to something?
I grow my hears into a fox's and listen. There is... something. Kirishima's right. It's like some wires are being drawn too tightly. And there's something big nearby.
"What is that?" Kirishima asked.
The building exploded. Well, not exploded. But a huge fist crashed into it. There's a white costume and someone big. Mount Lady. Then wires shoot all around. No, not wires. It's fabric. That must be Best Genus. He had wrapped up all the Nomu.
A purple warp appeared a few moments later. I knew that power from one of the villains in the League. It was trying to warp the Nomu. It couldn't find them though, with Best Genus taking care of them.
Why were the pros here? Were they.... were they trying to rescue Bakugo? There must be another group of them if the warp villain needed the Nomu. That was probably where Bakugo was being held. The pros were... doing something.
