We met Bakugo, Kirishima, Midoriya, and Ida at the train station, then took him to the police. Then we finally went home. The sun was already starting up in the air. My parents would know I was gone. I dreaded talking with them. I wasn't even wearing my own clothes anymore. I had that costume on.

"Thanks for coming."

I stopped walking. Kirishima and I had gone home together since we were neighbors. He stood with his hands in his pockets in front of the path to his front door. He was looking up at his house.

"Yeah," I said quietly.

"I know you're not close with Bakugo or anything, so you didn't have to come." He paused, frowning, then turned to me. "Why did you come?"

Why did I? Because of him. "Because you felt so terrible about not helping Bakugo in the first place, back when he was captured. I... I didn't feel that bad. I felt like I should."

Kirishima's frown deepened. "You shouldn't. You don't have to feel bad at all. That was my friend and I didn't do anything."

"I didn't do anything either."

Kirishima's mouth worked a few words but he didn't say anything for a moment. "It's not the same," he tried lamely. He sighed. "Thanks for coming anyways." He walked up to his front door and entered his own house.

I stared up at mine. Man did I not want to go in there. Here goes.

I opened the door and took my shoes off. Mom came over first, to see who it was. Dad was a few steps behind her, knotting his tie for work.

"Hey, honey," mom said, frowning. "Why were you out front? Did you go somewhere?" She looked me up and down. "What are you wearing?"

She... she didn't know? I could lie. I could get out of this.

Like that would work. She'd find out anyways. It would be better if I was the one to tell her.

"I went to get Bakugo back." I don't meet her eyes as I say it.

Both of them are quiet. I risk a glance up.

"The rescue?" Mom says quietly. "Where that villain nearly killed All Might? You were there?"

I nod.

Mom turns on dad, her eyes wide. "You're leaving that school." She turns back to me. "You wouldn't have done something like this before you went there."

She's right. It makes me angry to admit it. I've changed. I've met people like Kirishima. I don't know what I want to do. I've said I want to be a pro hero and maybe that's still what I want, but I can't go back to who I was. And I can't leave UA.

"You sent me there. I can't leave now."

"That's not your decision to make."

"Why send me in the first place? You wanted me to be a hero but now you don't? This doesn't make sense."

"It wasn't supposed to be this dangerous."

Dad put his hand on mom's shoulder.

"You needed to learn to love life again, Y/n. You hated heroes so much. You needed to see what they were really like."

"Those people are different than pros."

"Those people are going to be pros someday," Dad said.

He's right. I know that. Maybe my classmates will be different sorts of pros then. "You already paid for the year. Just let me finish the year."

Mom and dad looked at each other.

"Absolutely not," mom said. You're worth so much more than a year's tuition.

"Honey," dad said, pulling her aside. "Let's talk about this."

They did for a little while. Then dad went to work. Mom fusses about the house all day, not speaking to me much. So much for being glad I was safe. No, she loved me. She was just trying to protect me.

Dad came home and he and mom talked for the rest of the night. I snuck out sometime after 10 and sat under my usual bush. I could see Kirishima's light on in his room. I thought for a moment about going over there again. I didn't though. I didn't want to worry mom any more.

The next morning, everything was worse. The school had sent out a notice. They were trying to move us students into dorms on the campus. Mom was completely against it. Dad was hesitant, but he thought it would be better for me, both social and academically.

Later that afternoon, Aizawa and All Might showed up to talk to my parents. I sat up in my room while they talked. I could hear my mom trying to be polite. I have no idea what was said.

A while later, mom came up to my room, knocked, and came in. She took a breath.

"Your father decided it's best for you to go to the dorms for the rest of this year. We can talk about next year afterwards."

"You don't agree?"

She sighed. "I want you to be safe, Y/n. UA wasn't supposed to be this dangerous."

"With the pros as teachers, it's the safest place for me to be, mom."

"No. It's not. They're going to be sending you out to fight soon. You're not going to be a student for long, Y/n."

"Thank you for letting me go anyways."

"Why? Why do you want to go to UA now?"

Why indeed? "This is the happiest I've been in a while. It... it feels good. I'm meeting good people. Even I can tell, I'm growing."

Mom nods. There are tears in her eyes.  "What more could I ask for?" Safety is left unsaid. "Just... be safe, Y/n. Don't do anything stupid. Like you did last night."

I chuckle nervously. "Sounds good."

"Get some sleep. You're moving in to the dorms tomorrow."
