We were woken up at 5:30 the next morning. Entirely too early for any decent human to be awake.

I rubbed my eyes as I bumped into Mina, trying to get out of the bunk room.

"Watch where you're going," she muttered half-heartedly.

The whole class grouped up outside in the dirt clearing. Mr. Aizawa was there already, waiting for us. Once we had all showed up, he started talking.

"Good morning class. Today we will begin the training camp that will increase your strength. Your goal is to increase your skills exponentially so that each of you earns your provisional license. This will allow you to use your quirks to face the villains that grow more dangerous. Look aive, Bakugo." Aizawa tossed a baseball to Bakugo. "Throw that for me."

Bakugo caught it. "Sure. Like in the fitness test."

That must have happened before I can to UA.

"That's right," Aizawa said. "When you first started school, your record was 705.2 meters. Let's see if you've improved."

"Oh," Mina called. Her usual energy was coming back already. "You're checking our progress."

I didn't have that first test. There was no way to check the progress I had made since joining UA.

"A lot has happened to us in the last three months," Sero said, watching Bakugo. "I wonder if he can throw it a whole mile now."

Bakugo warmed up his arm with a few big swings. Then he wound up and threw the ball with a huge explosion behind it. It sailed through the air. So far. The ball hit the ground.

"That was 709.6 meters."

Wait really? That means he'd hardly improved at all. All that work meant nothing?

"That's it?" Sero asked. "Kind of disappointing."

Bakugo stood where he was. He seemed somewhere between confused and angry.

"You've had a single semester at UA," Aizawa said. "Due to your experiences, you've all improved. Both those improvements have mostly been to mental prowess and technical skill. Your quirks themselves have not improved much. That's why we're not going to focus on improving your power." Aizawa grinned. "You're gonna feel like you're dying."

The class split up. Everyone was working on their own individual skills, pushing their quirks beyond their breaking point so that they could grow stronger. It looked incredibly painful for some of them.

I worked near Jiro and Mina. Jiro was constantly hitting her earphone jacks against the cliff face to improve their strength. Mina was constantly making acid against the wall but she kept her hands pressed to it so she could learn to withstand more of it without hurting herself.

I stood next to both of them with my ears and nose as sensitive as could be. The constant clanging right next to me, along with the loud shouts and screams from other students, hurt my ears, a lot. And Mina's acid smelled bitter and sharp and melted rock doesn't smell so great either. I had to try to sniff out and hear other things going on farther away, leaning into the terrible noise and smell instead of lowering my sensitivity.

I was also supposed to work on how fast I could change my hearing and smell and even how fast I could turn into a full fox. I'd have to do that later. Hopefully somewhere private.

As the hours dragged on, one of the pro heroes came over. There were four of them now. A lady with bright green hair and a huge guy had joined them. The guy was helping out those with strength quirks. The green-haired lady came over to the three of us.
