I stuck with Jiro and Shoji, keeping eyes and ears out for more monsters so that the class could avoid what we could. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use my nose very well. Because the creatures were made mostly out of mud, they just smelled like the rest of the forest to me. I could tell a difference if I really focused, but using my ears was much more effective.
Sero helped take the flying beasts down, where closer-range fighters like Sato and Kirishima could take care of them.
Mineta and Kaminari worked as a team as well. Mineta would trap the monsters with his quirk, then run away while Kaminari electrocuted the life out of them. Someone usually had to lead him around after that.
Mina's acid proved very effective against them, while Hagakure would act as a distraction. At one point, Momo created a cannon to shoot at the mud beasts.
Uraraka and Tsu shook the entire forest together. Uraraka would make a beast weightless for Tsu to slingshot them up into the air. Then Uraraka would let them fall. I tried to stay away from them.
"There's more coming from the left," I shouted.
Bakugo rocketed past us, shooting explosions at the two monsters that were just coming into view. Todoroki slowed them down with his ice. Apparently, that got in Bakugo's way. I could hear them fighting as they took down the two beasts.
"Behind us!" Jiro shouted.
I cringed. My ears.
Sure enough, there was a mud monster crashing through the forest, coming right for the three of us.
"I've got you!"
Someone dashed past, jumped up on the monster and changed its course with a heavy punch. Kirishima landed back on the ground in time for Midoriya to take care of the monster.
"Thanks, Kirishima," Jiro called.
He waved, then ran after the next one.
Slowly, so slowly, we made our way towards the camp, fighting mud monsters the entire way. The sun was setting, turning the whole world orange, before we finally made it to the camp.
Aizawa, the kid in the hat, and the two pro heroes stood in front of the camp. They had never looked better.
Everyone from class, on the other hand, was hurting, bruised, exhausted, and most were limping or nursing a decent wound. I had a huge nick taken out of my ear from too close a call and a large burn from when Bakugo had gotten a little too close. We all looked terrible and felt worse.
Sero nearly fell over in the clearing. "You said it'd only take us three hours," he complained.
The brunette laughed. "I guess we timed it based on how long it would take us. Sorry."
The whole class groaned. I fell onto the dirt with more than one other person. I was so tired. Jiro leaned on her knees next to me, Mina throwing herself over Jiro's back. Kirishima sat nearby. Sato and Momo had run out of food pretty quickly, so they were probably more exhausted than the rest of us.
"I'm starving," Kirshima complained. "This is hell!"
Uraraka and Aoyama both looked like they were going to throw up.
The blonde hero giggled. "I thought it was going to take you even longer to get here. You all did very well against my mud monsters. You guys were seriously great!"
Even more people collapsed onto the ground, exhausted. We weren't quite so quick to complain now though.
"And this little guy is my cousin's son," the brunette hero said, introducing the little boy. "His name is Kota. Don't be shy, Kota, say hi to everyone."
