Narrator

5 years had passed and Y/n still had no idea what was going on in their world, but it didn't matter because Danielle was always smiling.

"What do you think?" Dani turned to try to see Y/n's reaction.

Y/n was always amazed by Dani's creations. It could be a drawing, a new song, a mural she randomly decided to make in the spare room. Anything that made Dani smile made Y/n happy.

"Have I ever told you, I absolutely love your voice?" Y/n leaned over to peck Dani's lips.

"I'm being for real!" Dani giggled.

She was flattered but that's not the answer she wanted.

"I think, you're only asking me because it's not exactly how you want it. Else, you would be have told me that's it came out just right," Y/n knew Danielle all too well.

Danielle scrunched her nose when she realized Y/n was right. There was something missing and she wasn't finished yet. Still, she liked sharing everything she's ever made with Y/n. Her creations only ever felt meaningful when she got to share them with Y/n.

"You're right," Danielle pulled out her equipment when she realized she wasn't done.

Dani knew she could be a bit of a perfectionist.

"Hey, do you think our kids would have any of our traits?" Dani leaned her head on Y/n's shoulder.

Danielle knew exactly how Y/n felt about kids but she couldn't help herself recently.

"Umm, I think if we raised them correctly or were reasonable parents... then our children would just be a reflection of us...," Y/n knew Dani had come down with baby fever recently so they didn't like to break her heart too much.

"Yeah," Dani pouted.

Y/n wasn't too fond of kids. Y/n didn't want kids. Y/n was afraid to fuck up their kids like their mom fucked them up. Y/n was still scared of their past, to an extent, so it was difficult to fulfill some of Danielle's wishes.

Dani always knew what she signed up for. She knew who she had committed to. She knew that compromises were part of every relationship. She knew she was okay with trading a few things for having a partner that always appreciated her very existence.

Dani knew Y/n wasn't perfect and she knew that their love was more than she ever imagined. She was always in complete amazement how things ended up working out. She knew that the love they had for each other could maybe never last forever but that was okay. Danielle and Y/n knew how to love each other in every form. In every way you could ever love a person.

Their story never had to be perfect...

It just had to be special to them.

"What do you think of adoption?" Y/n softly whispered.

Danielle's heart skipped a beat.

Y/n had only brought up the concept of having kids once before.

"What about it?" Danielle pulled away from Y/n and smiled like an idiot.

"I don't know. Maybe, like, if you really want kids then maybe we could look into giving someone another chance. Teaching them what love really is," Y/n struggled with their words a bit.

Danielle could tell that it was just a thought Y/n had, but she took it as a win.

"I love you," She pecked Y/n's lips.

Danielle and Y/n had been in South Korea for 5 years now. They had settled down and started to live their life together. It was like they had never broken up. Like they hadn't had to go through the struggle of dating other people to find out how much they really loved each other.
