Narrator

Danielle explained what real love was to her and decided that she wasn't ready to determine if she had found it yet.

"I'm not sure if what we had is stable enough for me to say I've found it," She told Y/n.

As much as it ripped the pair apart, they both understood. An unstable start meant an unstable end.

In the end,

Y/n and Danielle did end up being roommates, after Dani graduated. It was a bit awkward at first but they had made a promise. Especially now that Dani didn't want to live with her parents anymore.

Still, they decided to be friends.

They dated around a bit but each relationship was never good enough for them.

It took them a lot of learning, from other relationships, for them to fully understand what real love was.

It's exactly what they had the entire time.

It was boundaries, communication, mutual understanding, and conflict resolution. They didn't need anything else. They never disrespected each other to the point of no return. They never tried to intentionally hurt each other either. They would talk things through and apologize when it was needed...

And they always kept their promises.

Especially when it mattered most...

- Y/N POV -

It was the last day Danielle would spend at my home.

"Hey!" I said as I walked into the house.

"Hello!" Danielle popped her head out of my room.

"You all packed?" I exhaled deeply.

It was going to be a hard night for me, but I knew I could endure it. Danielle had done so much for me throughout these years... the least I could do... was be strong for her.

"Yup! You driving me to the airport right?" Dani almost looked like she had no faith in me.

"Yeah," I awkwardly cleared my throat.

"Well actually, Oli might be coming with us," I confessed.

"Huh?" Dani didn't look too pleased.

Dani never liked how I'd run to her sister for comfort. She always wanted me to come to her with my issues, but Dani wasn't my girlfriend anymore.

At least...,

Not yet.

I always hoped she'd give me another chance.

"Do you really need my sister for that?" Dani tried to be playful... but I knew she hated when I brought up Olivia...

"She's my best friend," I teased her.

It was kind of true. Olivia had been the one person I never expected to get along with when I moved into The Mo-Marsh home. She was... umm... unpredictable... but very dependable.

Olivia was probably the reason I didn't fuck up my relationship with Danielle too much. She was who I reluctantly looked up to when I had no other choice. Still, she always came through for me.

Danielle always hated it because she always felt like I was trying to steal her sister from her... but she never liked to admit it...

"She's my sister! I should ask her," Danielle proved my point.
