.......

Kashvi, in her daze, overwhelmed by pain ran straight into the arms of Vikram Chahal, who held his daughter in his arms instantly.

She couldn't hold back as the two arms which had offered her nothing but comfort, and broke down into loud sobs.

Vikram engulfed his daughter in a hug, rubbing her back trying to calm her down, unknown to what had led her to this huge breakdown.

" If it's about Sam, he'll be okay bachhe," he said, his voice lower than usual but held a strong certainty.

" Papa , am I...am I a bad omen?" She stuttered, the pain clearly visible on her face.

If an outsider would have said this, Kashvi wouldn't have bothered but the words were said by her own motherinlaw, the woman who cherished her yesterday like one of her own.

She couldn't help but think whether it was all a lie.

She valued her relationship with her motherinlaw a lot, considered her like her mother so when she spat those words with a killing silence, she couldn't help but cry. A part of her almost believed her.

As if she was the cause of everything.

" Nahi bachhe, kisne bola aisa? Chal mere saath mai dekhta hoo," her father said grabbing her hand pulling him with him but she just shook her head , tears flooding her eyes as she lightly tugged at his hand.

" No, I cannot go inside please."

Her dad observing the way his daughter was suffering nodded at her.

He made her sat nearby on a bench ," You sit here I'll bring your mother," he said, as if telling the eight years old Kashvi that he'd be back .

The same walls , the same place but years passed and she grew up too soon.
Vikram's eyes flashed with the memory of the past, the way he held onto his daughter when her mother was admitted in the same hospital when their son was born.

Kashvi-

I sat there numb, the tears had dried now while I waited for my dad.

If it was another day and I'd have cried like this rushing outside, Sam would've followed me running but now he was struggling for his life.

If Danish was here , he'd have held me in his arms so strong, he'd never have let me shed a single tear. Never.
Sam would be here with us, not hurt like this .

But he wasn't here and now we all were suffering.

I wanted to go and stand with my family, stay there until Sam opened his eyes but I couldn't. As if my mere presence would cause something wrong , something bad.

So I sat rooted on my spot, waiting for my father who had held me after months , the last time I had cried in his arms in Deepti's wedding and he had vowed that if there was anything troubling me he'd fight anyone.

And when I had noone today, he was there just like he promised.

What felt like hours, all of them came.
My phone buzzed with Divya's name at the same moment my dad approached but he didn't let me pick up.

" Let's go Kashvi," my mother said grabbing me by the shoulder , I shook my head staring at her .

I couldn't just leave, my family needed me. Sam needed me here. Rahul and mom? Even if she didn't want me to be here , would she not even let me stay now?
