This is the third major storm to hit Gotham and you were stuck inside most of the time. You didn't mind the rain but this was getting a little ridiculous, your flowers in the garden were all washed away and the streets were flooded. It wasn't like you cared so much about the flowers you never had much of a green thumb anyways but it was a nice addition to the yard and it gave you something to do on your days off. You worked at a local office, nothing more than a desk job but the pay was good so you stuck around.

You were watching the dark sky pour more rain onto the streets when you heard his voice call out for you. You had been down his throat for weeks about not going out into this storm and if he did to stay warm and dry as best he could, but did he listen? No.

"K?" you turned and greeted the nicely dressed man.

"How you feeling?" you placed your cool hand on his head which was burning up and you rolled your eyes.

"I'm not sure how many times I've told you-"

"about thirteen, Madam" Alfred interrupted you which earned the carefree butler a stern glare to which he ignored.

"Don't interrupt me, as I was trying to say, I don't know how many times I've told you to be more careful about going out in this weather!" despite scolding him you were genuinely worried about Bruce.

He offered you a small, sick smile and it was obvious he was exhausted having been resting during the day but having to 'protect' Gotham at night. Now, you were fine with this on any other occasion but when it put his health at risk you were less than enthusiastic about the idiots of this dump of a city. Your internal grumblings were interrupted by coughing as the two of you had made it back to his large bedroom.

"Take it easy, please? Would you look at yourself, you look a mess and all of your clothes are soaked." after you made sure he was in bed and had some cold medicine in his system you proceeded to collect all of his clothing to clean and dry.

You liked to help around the manor, having gotten rather close to Bruce over the last few years due to your job. You never thought the day would come where you would be thankful for working at that dreadful place. You were humming to yourself while tossing the appropriate clothes into the washer when Alfred popped up around the corner.

"No need to worry yourself with the chores, Madam, I assure you I can handle them on my own." Rolling your eyes again you shrugged at let him take over.

"Whatever, Al, I'll be reading up in Bruce's room if you need something." Fixing your hair that had fallen messily out of it's place in your pony tail you tightened it and went to your spot next to Bruce on the bed.

You felt bad for him but you also knew he deserved it, if he had listened to you none of this would have happened but you couldn't hold much of a grudge against him though because he did look awfully cute while he slept. Placing your hand on his head one more time you felt the fever had gone down quite a lot but decided it was best not to wake him.

"If you had listened to me and stayed in the damn car instead of running in all bravado and no afterthought this wouldn't have happened" you muttered searching for the spot you had left off in your book.

"But then I wouldn't have you taking such good care of me, would I?" you nearly fell off of the bed when he spoke.

"You scared the bloody hell out of me!!" you screeched with a grin on your face matching the one on his.

"I'm sorry, thought you knew I was awake" he was turned on his side now facing you.

"No and you shouldn't be, I thought I said for you to sleep?" you placed your book back down on the stand next to the bed before turning to him.

"You weren't in here so I couldn't sleep" you were sure it was the medicine getting to him, he wasn't usually this affectionate or open but you smiled accepting the attention none the less.

"So, what are we going to do next time on a rainy day?" you laughed as you found your perfect place in his arms and against his chest.

"listen to you?" he muttered half asleep now as he got comfortable with you in his arms.

"Yeah, because that's how it always goes" you mused laughing at your bad joke because you knew this was going to happen again and you'd be there to help him out, again but you enjoyed it even though you wouldn't admit that.
