The first day you met him was all by accident, it wasn't really a surprise to be kidnapped, hear about one or see one here in Gotham. If you're in the right neighbourhood you could see the perfect family and then see a man be stabbed to death. You had become so used to the crime in Gotham that you really didn't pay any attention to it anymore, it sounds bad to say but it's the truth. You worked in one of the worst areas in the city, one where there was a robbery every night, a murder story on the news in the morning and pay was pathetic. You didn't care much about the 'hero' Batman anymore than you did about the 'bad man' named Joker because nothing here would change.
"I'm going out for a smoke, I'll be back in a bit" you called out to your boss who carelessly waved you off. You grabbed your pack, the lighter already in your work pants pockets and slumped against the side of the old store's wall. You hated working here, hated being in Gotham but you didn't really have any other choice because you were basically one step above being homeless with how little you were paid.
It was a long shift, one you were glad to have behind you. Unfortunately you lived in a not-so-cozy apartment about a block from the store, this meant you had to walk back and forth everyday. You had become so well-known along this path that you had even made a friend in a homeless woman, giving her what you didn't eat for lunch that day or maybe a few bucks if you'd been paid when you could spare it. It was a long walk but one you were used to, one where nothing was different than any other day when you walked down here. It was normal to hear the bickering of people passing through alley's and you had become so used to it that you didn't even give it a second glance but today, today you did. You weren't so much curious about what was being done but what was being said, there were men looking around the alley for something. These men were huge! One of their arms was the size of your freaking torso but that didn't stop you from listening from the corner of the building.
You pressed yourself hard against the stone wall as you heard them move closer, talking loudly as they did so and from the sounds of it they were looking for a girl for 'boss'. You didn't want to be this girl, didn't want anything more to do with it but you didn't want to move because you were afraid to be seen. You laughed silently to yourself thinking about how dumb they looked, they seemed like the type that if you just stopped moving they'd loose sight of you and if you said anything smarter than the vocabulary of a toddler they'd look at you like you had three heads. You found yourself in quite the predicament but a new voice changed that as well as scared the shit out of you! The voice was in your ear, right in your ear and you stopped moving, stopped breathing, and slowly turned your head to meet the dark eyes of a man you'd seen on TV before.
"You seem to be in quite a pickle, how about I help you out? I mean my services are not free but we can arrange payment another way at a different time" he chuckled and you all but nodded, you weren't sure how he'd stop these brutes but you agreed to allow him to help you.
You were sure you were dead when you heard him call out to the men, what on earth was this lunatic doing?! You mentally cursed yourself a thousand times over for ever trusting a sole here in this shit-hole city. You had little time to think about anything because now you were forced up against the wall with so much force you were sure they'd cracked a rib or two. You were now stuck pinned between an idiot and a wall next to a man who was in the same spot.
"Put me down you Brute!" You scolded the man that held you eyeing him dangerously but he only grinned before pressing you tighter to the wall making you scream in pain.
