He watched her smile and dance around her apartment, correction, he watched her silhouette from the streets. He wished he could see her, that smile that he had fallen in love with but he was the one to fuck a good thing up. He couldn't feel the rain as it pelted him, he stopped feeling much after what he did to her because it was truly an asshole thing to do and he knew that but he did it anyways.

You were happy for the time being, it had been quite some time since you were able to freely dance around the apartment without a care in the world. You missed him, you missed him with every fiber of your being and it hurt to think about the past and how things ended but you were getting past that. Your grumpy old cat watched from the corner of your dresser,

"You wanna dance?" the cat mewed in protest but you grabbed him up and began to dance around anyways.

"Awe, what's the matter grumpy pants" you laughed setting the angry fur-ball back in his original position before turning the music off and flopping on your bed.

You sighed, it was unusually quiet now that Jason was gone; and it was a little off-putting to be honest. He used to make you laugh, make you smile with his dumb faces but then he had to go and mess things up. If there was anything you knew for sure it was how easily he was able to mess up a good thing.

He sighed, the sigh being visible in the cooling night as he slid down the side of the building out of the rain now. Sure he messed up, all good men do but he wasn't always a good man but that didn't mean he didn't want to be he just didn't know how. He didn't mean to take her for granted, didn't mean to break her heart like he had but surely she had to be missing him too, right? He rubbed his face, the tiredness evident in his eyes and on his face with the purple bags decorating the bottoms of his eyes.

You had gotten dressed in your favorite night gown, ready to get to bed and face the next day like all the previous ones but you weren't expecting the knock at the door. You shrugged thinking it was one of your friends or maybe your parents had decided to surprise you with a late night visit as they did more often than you'd like. You grumbled slipping on your favorite pair of bunny slippers that your dad bought you last year before walking to the door.

You opened it and immediately shut it again, you didn't want to see Jason right now because you knew your heart couldn't handle it and you were right to think so because the tears were already in your eyes.

"Open up, I want to talk to you" he pleaded with the softness he always had with you.

"What more is there to talk about, Jason?" you whispered against the door, you were leaning your forehead against it unable to believe who had shown up.

"Please? I really need to talk to you and I can't do that properly through this door" he said trying to open it but you weren't moving.

"No" your will to ignore him, to make him leave and never see you again was fading fast.

"Please?" you broke and opened the door begrudgingly.

You stepped away from him, he was soaking wet standing in front of you and it was clear he had not slept recently. You wanted to hug him, offer him a warm place to stay and take him back but what he did doesn't just go away so when he reached for you, you moved back.

"Don't. . .just, what do you want?" you asked trying hard not to make eye contact with him because you wouldn't be able to resist the sadness you'd see.

"I know sorry doesn't mean a damn thing but I am, I am so sorry it hurts. I shouldn't have taken what I had with you for granted, I should have treated you like the queen you are to me. I should have done a million things I didn't but I can if you give me another chance to make it up to you. I should have called you before things went that far, I shouldn't have even gone like you said but I did and it happened. I'm not proud of it, I'm ashamed that I treated the woman I love with such callus disrespect. I love you, I love you so much" his voice cracked, his voice had never cracked in all of the years you had know Jason he was confident so this made your eyes snap up and meet his.

You regretted taking your eyes off of the very interesting carpet that had suddenly gained all of your adoration but you couldn't help yourself. You had to look up and that's, that's when it was over and you knew then that you couldn't ignore the feeling swirling around in the pit of your chest. You love him, you didn't want to and you shouldn't but you did and there was no amount of counseling or ignoring it that would change this fact. You were gone, so far trapped in love that you sounded pathetic.

"Jason, I love you too I really do but I can't just forget about the things you did. I know you're sorry, hell you've said it enough but are you really? I mean you thought about it and did it anyways, how am I suppose to trust you again? I want more than anything to believe in you, to trust you, and to have things go back to the way they were before but it's not going to be like that. I. . .I don't know if I can give you another chance, not that I don't want to, I just don't want this to end up being all for nothing. I don't want to lose you but I can't love you if I'm nothing more than than the next girl you love then leave."

The tears had long since been streaming down your face and despite your best efforts you couldn't make them stop you couldn't and now you were a blubbering mess. Jason brought you into his arms now you were a damp blubbering mess in the arms of an unfaithful man and you couldn't bring yourself to be even a little bit stronger. You clung to him like you had when you heard your sister passed away, clung to him when you lost your dog, clung to him like you did when you had a nightmare. You realized all you had known was him, all you'd ever had or wanted was him. Somehow in this mess you two ended up back where you started, in the bedroom just standing there like always when he whispered to you,

"I'll never take you for granted again."
