She was putting her long blonde hair up in it's usual messy bun, it kept it out of her face and out of the way so she could work. She was already dressed and just waiting for a certain super soldier to pick her up. It was five in the morning and she was going out for her morning job with Steve, he was definitely hard to keep up with but she managed after training with him for three years now. He was always a friend when she needed one and even on days when she didn't want anyone around he was always the one to cheer her up. She smiled thinking about it when the knock came at the door.
"Good morning!" she chirped smiling brightly at the shy man "good morning, ready to head out?" she nodded and grabbed his elbow after locking her home up.
"So," he started as they walked casually "I have someone we're going to meet, he's a nice guy I think you'll like him" she rolled her eyes and laughed.
"you know, I don't run to find dates" she glanced up into his kind blue eyes "right?" he laughed with her as they finally made it into central park. She noticed the man in a grey army sweatshirt, who runs in a sweatshirt? She shrugged the thought away as they walked up to the man.
"You never told me you had a girl, Cap?" he laughed but Steve only blushed waving the thought off as he introduced them.
"Not my girlfriend, only a very good friend. She's an agent too, ya know!" he beamed "ah, ignore him. I'm Trinity Lawson but you can call me Trin, everyone does" she smiled holding her hand out "the name's Sam Wilson, you guys ready?"
You were running past Sam, keep pace just behind Steve "on your left!" he shouted passing the tired man as he laughed, rolling his eyes "want me to slow down?" she offered slowing to his pace.
He enjoyed her company already "how do you keep up with him?" he motioned around to wherever Steve was at the moment "been training with him every morning for three years, every day at five until the sun comes up" she shrugged as the slowed to a walk "we can start training, if you'd like, I mean. . .If you don't mind I'd like to get to know you better" she offered and he didn't think on it long before agreeing to her offer.
Steve passed them again and she laughed calling out "on your left!" for him "you two really are close" he started talking again once Steve was out of ear shot.
"yeah, he's like the brother I lost back on tour through Dubai." She smiled "same blond hair and similar personalities made it an easy match, I really love him like a brother now!" she smiled her eyes showing distance when he watched her from the corners of his own.
"I'm sorry to hear that" he wasn't sure what to say but she edged him on to talk about himself some and he did and before they knew it Steve had passed by only to stop in front of them.
"We should get back to the office, it's about that time anyways" he gave her a knowing smile as she linked her arm with his "see you around?" she called back towards Sam and he nodded "y-yeah! Same time tomorrow?" she nodded "yep, see you then!"
She laughed and carried on with Clint and Natasha on the Helicarrier when Steve came up from the corridor, "so then I-hey Steve! I was just talking to Clint about some things I did while we were on the last mission" he nodded but had a serious look on his face while he dragged her out of the room.
"What's the matter?" he crossed his arms and she laughed, realizing what he was worried about "don't worry about me, Sam is your friend after-all. You even introduced us with that in mind, so what if I like his company" she placed a hand on her hip.
"I just worry, you're like a sister to me" she grabbed his arm in an attempt to reassure him "well, trust my judgement" he gave her a tight hug "well, come to me if anything happens okay?" she sighed but cherished the concern none the less.
Five A.M. came around and she was waiting patiently on her couch when a knock came at the door. She jumped up and opened it, revealing two people "I could get used to this greeting, two strong men coming to see me!" she laughed heading out past the two.
She decided to help push Sam a little harder, showing him some tips and tricks before rushing ahead to catch up with Steve. Coming around she slid to a stop next to Sam "I'm on your left" she whispered grabbing his hand and forcing him to run at her speed. After a lap he was ready to collapse for the day.
"That, I can't do that" he huffed plopping under an oak tree when she sat next to him, on his left "well. will some practice I'm sure you can" she smiled leaning against him "besides. . .I'll always be on your left" she chuckled at how corny she sounded but she meant it, she was always going to be by his side. He laughed squeezing her hand and enjoying the rest while he could before Steve showed up and became to overprotective big brother.
