You were forced to relive the last minutes with him before you were forced to forget. You were forced to become something you were not, a warrior, a soldier. You were their bargaining tool, the one thing that Bucky would not turn away from. He was brought in by a promise to see you again, he was lied to just as you had been. Allow me to take you back to understand this whole conundrum a little better.
In the beginning there was no reason to suspect that in less than a decade you'd be forced to forget every moment you were spending with your best friends right now. You were very close with Bucky and learned to love Steve like a brother, you three were practically inseparable. There were time where people assumed you were their little sister and the thought both embarrassed and surprised you. You threw the thought away quickly because Bucky always had something snappy or witty to say back at the accusation.
You knew them for a year before realizing just how deep you feelings went for Bucky, you knew you loved him with all of your heart but you were afraid to admit this and never told him. The more time you spent with Steve, you would confide in him and tell him of your feelings towards his second best friend. You would always joke that you were first and he was the second but order didn't matter in the end. He told you the same thing each time before finally giving up and listened toy your complaining in friendly silence.
It didn't take long for word to get around and Bucky to finally man and ask you out about the same time that you had mustered up enough courage to talk with him about it. It was certainly a relief for the two of you and it only got better from there. Spending nights over at his house watching movies and laughing with him about stupid jokes. Each time you two spent together you felt closer to one another with no reason to expect anything to change you had given one another a promise ring. He, being the gentleman he was, said it was the best way to make sure you remembered him and he; you.
Two very long years later, fights and make-ups you two were still going strong. Steve was still the best friend you could have every asked for, Bucky being everything you always looked for in a partner. You hadn't spent any of your time working towards getting into the army because you weren't that type. You were the friendly, work hard but come home safe at night type. You worked in a library, with students and older people for heaven's sake!
Coming home from a rather calm shift you weren't expecting anything more than cold pizza and a long hot bath but life changed when you opened that door. You were greeted with a silver pistol pointed between your eyes and everything you were holding fell to the floor with a loud thud. You were shaking, eyes showing the terror that you felt to the very core while you raised your hands in the air, surrendering.
"Please, I-I don't have anything." You didn't move while the man in front of you didn't move the gun but stepped forwards grabbing your arm roughly.
"You are all I need, come with me or I'll paint the sidewalk with your blood." he motioned back the way you came and you nodded quickly moving.
You wanted to start crying and with your life in peril you had every right to do so but you didn't. All you could think about is trying to get a hold of Bucky or Steve. Anyone really, you didn't care who helped you as long as you weren't in this car right now. You were instructed to look forwards and not to move your head, you followed them. You never realized how hard it was not to turn your head, it was such a natural habit when you were in a car and now that you couldn't you realized how often you did move.
