He was just so darn irritating with his cocky, better-than-you attitude and that smirk made it worse. She was infuriated with the man, maybe that was putting it lightly but she didn't know any other way to put it as she sat next to Summer's. She was unable to speak her frustrations, you see she was mute and unable to speak her mind in her own voice and that's where her mutation came in. She was a shifter-a shapeshifter that allows her to manipulate her vocal cords to come out as a voice of someone she knows well enough as well as her body into different forms. She usually used her mothers voice or Storms seeing as she was only eve close to those two people. She listened while Scott talked to her but she wasn't all that interested in anything he was saying because all she heard was work this and work that. She stood abruptly giving him a kind smile before bowing and heading off in a random direction. Well, it would have been random if her mind didn't take her to the only place she had ever felt safe, his room in his arms. She forced herself to pass it but not before rolling her eyes and wanting to mutter profanities. You see, she is the nicest person you could meet and had a heart of gold that most people never saw her angry side. Most people didn't even know she had a temper but she was a silent fuse, she had a temper that rivaled Logan's and now he knew that. In all the years she had known him and he her, she had never once let her temper get the better of her. She knew she had to control it because of how much trouble it caused her as a child and now she could control it and she was a master at doing so-around everyone but Logan. There was something about him, something about the dangerous look in his wild eyes that drew her in like a moth to a flame. She was trapped forever in his dangerous game. She was sitting in the only other place she knew she could hide away, deep in the woods near a huge tree that still stood after many years of weathered abuse. She cried silently, mostly fearing that if she had made a noise something or someone would come get her.
Logan was never a man that was stable, he never claimed to be though and everyone who knew him for more than a day knew this. He had a temper, he was sometimes uncontrollable and he was terrible to people who didn't deserve the abuse. He cursed himself for saying those things to her, for treating her like she was nothing but baggage when she was truly his happiness. He felt like her baggage, like he was bringing her down but when she cried in his arms over silly things he felt like she was truly holding him and not the other way around. He ran his frustrated fingers through his hair cursing and throwing a chair.
"What did that chair ever do to you?" Scott half scolded the angry man when walking into the room "why do you care?!" he growled trying very hard to contain himself.
"Because she just ran away crying, Howlett, you really hurt her this time. I think you know what you need to do-" Logan's eyes narrowed after the initial shock of hearing that she ran off crying "don't tell me what I need to do!" despite his words he pushed past Summer's and all of the others who tried to ask him what was wrong or where he was going.
He knew where she would be, he knew that there was only one place she would be other than in his room where he was angrily brooding. She was going to be there, she had to be there because if she wasn't he didn't have any idea where she could be. As luck would have it she was sitting against the huge tree, holding some dead leaves in her hands before the wind blew them from her grasp.
She looked up and noticed the man that she was not ready to see, she was begging and praying that it was anyone else but him but it was. She couldn't look back at him because she knew that he could see the tear stains on her cheeks and she knew that she would only cry more. He walked cautiously up to her, he knew she had to hate him for all of the pain he caused her but he walked to her anyways. He needed to know she was alright, he needed some sort of relief in knowing she did not hate him and if she did that she would leave and he would never have to see her pretty face again. She heard him rustle the leave as he sat next to her, she could feel the nervousness and anxiety radiate from him.
"I, um, I'm no good with words and you know that" he motioned to her face and the tears that still stained it "but I am sorry, I'm sorry for everything bad thing I ever said to you and for every moment you had to cry because of me." he wanted to grab her hand, to show her some sort of comfort but she beat him to it.
In a voice not her own she whispered, "I'll let you look inside me, through the stains and through the cracks, And in the darkness of this moment, You see the good and bad. But try not to judge me, 'cause we've walked down different paths, But it brought us here together; so I won't take that back." he recognized her words and on instinct and against his better judgment whispered back to her "We might be oil and water; this could be a big mistake, We might burn like gasoline and fire, It's a chance we'll have to take."
"Logan, I know you don't mean those words you say to me and I know that you only say them because you are angry; I won't judge you because of it and I definitely will not hate you. . ." her voice faded out for a second before she gathered up more energy she needed to speak "I love you, you big goof" a wave of realization and relief and surprise rushed over his face and through his system. He gave her a small smile, more like a smirk but she took it in anyways, before he leaned in and took the chance to kiss her. There was a certain amount of desperation and need in the kiss but also, understanding and love.
When they pulled away he gingerly scratched at his neck "love you too, Bub" and she rolled her eyes before playfully hitting his arm "you are an idiot!" she was scolding him halfheartedly as he pulled her up with him. "Don't call me bub, by the way, you call everyone that" he chuckled rolling his brown eyes at her statement before turning to her and puling her in for a hug.
"Fine, how about. . ." he thought about it for a few seconds and thought "my girlfriend?" she gave a silent laugh, simply nodding her head too tired to use her mutation to talk back to him. He took it as a yes, he always took it as a yes no matter what it truly meant and no matter how angry she was with him-she was always his. The truth? They had always loved one another even if their love was as fragile as glass.
