You loved spending time with all of the Avengers, from Tony and Bruce in the lab talking nonsense about engineering stuff to quiet alone time with Bucky. You couldn't stand being alone anymore, after the incident that cost you your legs you couldn't manage to be alone without anxiety.
In fact it happened a few months before Steve went off to find Bucky with Sam, it was a mission that you joined. You wanted to help any way you could and being specially trained in tracking and tracing people's movements made you a vital part of the team.
When they found him and he destroyed the vehicle you were all in, you became pinned beneath it as it landed crushing both legs beyond repair. The doctors told you that you would be able to walk with prosthesis but it just wasn't the same. Despite this set back in your life you were a positive person learning how to walk in the prosthesis that were given to you, though to ones Tony made you were much more stylish.
You never blamed Bucky but he certainly blamed himself enough for the both of you. He didn't understand why you would ever want to be his friend. If he were in your shoes he'd be resentful and want nothing more then to exact revenge on the person, which happened to be his goal with Hydra but that was beside the point.
"I've told you a million times Steve, I'm fine!" You said pushing along the wheelchair that you used for most of your getting around. It was much easier then trying to walk in those clumsy fake legs.
"I only wanted to help you know." Steve said noticing Bucky in the doorway and standing abruptly. You turned your body to where he was looking and noticed Bucky as well.
"Oh, hey Buck!" You smiled kindly at him waving him over as Steve left.
"How's training with Natasha been? She turns training into an actual fight sometimes." You mused laughing softly motioning for him to sit down.
"So?" You asked again.
"It went well." He shrugged and leaned forwards.
"How's everything been in here? Stark can be a real pain, has he been giving you trouble?" You shook your head.
"Nah, just trying to convince Steve I can do this on my own." You said absentmindedly motioning towards your legs.
"You don't have to you know, we're here to help." He said softly.
"I know but I feel like I'm just burdening you guys when I ask for help." You shivered as a chill from the air-conditioning hit you.
"Here." He got up and placed his jacket on your shoulders.
"Are you sure? I don't want to take your stuff." You said cautiously.
"I'll be fine, besides, you're cold and I don't need it." He insisted and you blushed but nodded and stuck your arms through the sleeves.
"Thanks Bucky. You're really nice you know that?" You said pulling the sides into your chest enjoying the warmth and the way it smelled like him.
"I'm not that great, it's my fault your in that chair you know." He said with a very soft and sad voice to which you leaned back with a scowl on your face.
"No, I will not have you telling yourself lies Bucky. You spent so much of your time living a lie that I can't have you believing that. You didn't cause this, the man they brainwashed into doing terrible things against his will did this. You're not him anymore, I trust you with my life Bucky. Just like I trust they rest of the team, you're all my friends." You said reaching out for his hand but you couldn't quite reach it.
"A little help?" You smiled when he placed his metal hand in yours.
"Bucky, thank you for being there for me."
"You shouldn't be thanking me for anything. I haven't done anything, you've been the strength here." Bucky said and you laughed.
"Me? Hardly, Bucky. You're very sweet to say that though. Aren't you cold?" You shivered again.
"Are you still cold?" You nodded and Bucky let your hand go.
"Hang on." Bucky got up and left the room, while he was gone you maneuvered your wheelchair over to the couch and moved onto the soft cushions.
"Thanks Buck." You smiled as he sat the newly retrieved blanket over your lap.
"Sit down with me?" You asked and he hesitated but you tugged his arm and made him sit.
"Bucky?" You rested against his right shoulder causing him to become stiff and nervous.
"Can I ask you something?" You didn't move, only snuggled up closer to him.
"Anything." He responded finally relaxing some.
"Do you like me?" He was quiet for a little while but you were patient.
"I do, do you like me?" He asked cautiously putting the hand that rested on the couch over you.
"I really like you, you're so incredibly kind and I'd be lying to say I didn't like that. Do you think we could, maybe, go out sometime or something?" You asked and he relaxed completely.
"I think that would be nice, does coffee sound good to you?" You were about to respond when a noise came from the doorway to the elevator.
"OH what a cute sight! Mister tall dark and brooding found himself a cuddle buddy in miss lovely!" You scowled.
"Tony, I don't know why you call him that he's a very nice person." You said and Tony shrugged walking quickly through the room to reach some tools on the other side of the room.
"Could be the same reason he calls me all those mean names he does, anyways, see you lovebirds later!" Tony left as abruptly as he came in.
"I hate him."
"I know but at least it's only us again. Wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Anything you want, I'm fine with anything." And you did, breaking through Bucky's cold exterior.
