Full of Surprises - Bucky Barnes One Shot

If there was anything the team could say about you would be your love for all things Shakespeare knew no bounds. You've had everyone act it out with you at some point or another and despite their protests they did it for you. Friends are friends after all and all of yours tolerated your obsessive love for the dead mans work.

You weren't nearly as obsessed as they made it sound but you couldn't deny the chance to read one of Shakespeare's plays when you had the chance. You spent a great deal of your time reading old English literature and you didn't plan on stopping now. You may spend part of your time saving the world but the other part was spent reading your favorite plays.

You had met Bucky after Steve and Sam brought him back to the apartment you were renting. They were in need of a place to stay until they could get Bucky back on track and in that time you would spend your time showing him your favorite plays and stories while Sam and Steve made plans on his behalf. You quite enjoyed his company, he was quite but polite in a way that wasn't rude.

It's been months and even though Bucky was moved to a different place you would still make time to visit him bringing along your books to read with him or just enjoy his company. Steve and Sam were almost always around, Natasha came and went as she could but to be honest you didn't notice much.

You were reading Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare when Bucky snatched the book playfully from your hands and began to read the final act. You were going to complain but you weren't ready for his reading.

"Ah, dear Juliet, Why art thou yet so fair? shall I believe That unsubstantial death is amorous, And that the lean abhorred monster keeps Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee; And never from this palace of dim night Depart again: here, here will I remain With worms that are thy chamber-maids; O, here Will I set up my everlasting rest, And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars From this world-wearied flesh. Eyes, look your last! Arms, take your last embrace! and, lips, O you The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss A dateless bargain to engrossing death! Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide! Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on The dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here's to my love!" Bucky pretends to drink something as is written on the play in italics.

"O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die." Bucky falls back onto the bed pretending to be dead and your heart pounded hard in your chest as you grabbed the book and went to Juliet's final part.

"What's here? a cup, closed in my true love's hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end: O churl! drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make die with a restorative." You slowly lean down and kiss his lips lightly and whisper.

"Thy lips are warm. I'll be brief. O happy dagger!" You pretend to grab a dagger from the bed and stab yourself.

"This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die." You fall next to Bucky and both of you lay in silence.

"I didn't know you two could act, that was incredible!" Sam said clapping his hands with Steve grinning like an idiot behind him.

"Oh be gone!" You laughed shooing away Sam and Steve before turning to Bucky with a surprised look.

"That was incredible, I didn't know you could do that. I've had the whole team read these plays out with me but you really made that scene incredibly powerful." You said and he shrugged with a small grin on his face.

"I'm full of surprises you know." You rested your head on his left arm without concern.

"I can see that now, do you think I could stick around to find out more?" You asked softly and he pulled you close.

"You couldn't get rid of me if you tried." He chuckled and you couldn't help but grin like a fool, he certainly was full of surprises.
