Dean woke to darkness, but he didn't move, his body didn't go into the usual panic—the tight chest, the echoes of screaming, the memory of Sam falling into the Cage.
"Good morning Dean", said a voice and Dean was startled for a second before remembering the previous day's events.
"Morning Cas, what time is it?", Dean asked, flopping back onto the bed when he saw Cas was still reading.
"It's 5 in the morning, the sun will be coming up soon", Cas said closing the book and getting up, "I slept the whole night?", Dean asked surprised.
"You were a little fidgety, but I was there", Cas said as if it was simple and Dean hid his face, "I was surprised you calmed when I soothed you in Enochian", Cas continued as always.
"Why?", Dean asked peeking a look at Cas, "Humans often find comfort in their native language, even subconsciously, when they are distressed, they respond more strongly to familiar language, but last night Enochian seemed to calm you more than English did", Cas explained.
"Oh", Dean said his brow furrowing, "Do you know why?", he asked sitting up and Cas looked away.
"It's because I marked your soul when I raised you from hell, now get up, I'll make you breakfast", Cas said answering bluntly as if it wasn't a big deal but Dean blushed hard and decided to change the subject.
"You don't have to Cas", he said and Cas smiled, "I want to, I read some recipes while you were asleep, I want to attempt them", he said and Dean chuckled.
"Sure, whatever you want Cas", Dean said, getting up—only to nearly collide with Cas, "Cas? Personal space", he said but missed Cas's warmth as soon as he stepped back.
"My apologies Dean", he said and went to leave, "Wait, Cas", Dean said stopping him, "Change out of that outfit first, I know you are an Angel, but you don't always have to wear that outfit", he said and Cas looked down and then at Dean tilting his head.
"I don't have any other outfit", he said and for a second he had the strange urge to kiss him, Cas somehow managed to look completely serious and completely adorable at the same time.
"You can wear mine", he said opening his closet and getting out his t-shirt and sweats, he handed it to Cas, "Mine should fit you fine", he said and Cas smiled.
"Thank you Dean", he replied and Dean patted him on his chest before going into the bathroom, "Try not to burn the kitchen down, Angel", he said behind him.
Dean walked into the kitchen and stopped short when he saw Cas, the t-shirt was slightly tighter around Cas's arms and chests but otherwise it was a bit baggy around his waist.
Cas's hair was ruffled and seeing Cas like this made Dean's heart stutter and clench, "Sit down Dean", Cas said not looking up.
"Let me help", Dean offered, his voice sounding so different to him, "No need, Dean I'm almost finished", Cas said and Dean sat on the counter facing Cas.
"I'm going to look for a work", Cas said and that snapped Dean out, "What? Why?", Dean asked and Cas turned with a plate of the most fluffiest pancakes Dean has ever seen.
He set it in front of Dean, "Well, I don't want to sit here all day long while you work, I want to do something too", Cas said and poured a little bit of honey on top of the pancakes.
"What about Heaven?", Dean asked and took a bite, and immediately closed his eyes, "God, this is so good", he said and Cas who went to answer chuckled.
"Thank you Dean, but I'm going to put Heaven on hold, as human say", he replied, "So wait, you don't know what's happening upstairs?", Dean asked and Cas settled opposite to him.
