A couple of days later, Crowley announced that Hell was ready for Cas. The entire day, while Cas was gone, Dean felt like he was walking on pins and needles.

Cas returned home later that night, announcing Sam was in his grave and Cas had left Dean's number with him.

As said, Sam called Dean the next morning, and for a moment, Dean was ready to run back to his brother, but his brother stopped him, saying Dean deserved the peace, and that he would call if he needed anything.

Dean wanted to protest, but looking at Cas humming and swaying in their kitchen made Dean just watch him. Maybe... just maybe... he could have a normal life.

He ended the call with a promise from Sam that he would call everyday or keep Dean updated about his whereabouts one way or another.

The next nine months were a dream for them—filled with so much happiness, love, training and laughter that Dean could have never imagined that his happiness would end on this day.

Dean decided to celebrate their anniversary at home, with their cooking and homemade candlelight dinner, which Cas loved.

But Dean was planning something bigger, "Ok Angel... I can't wait any longer", he said and Cas tilted his head.

Dean placed a small ring box on the counter, they had never bothered with a dining table — the counter had always been theirs.

Cas's eyes widened, "Dean", he started, "I know, I know", Dean said taking Cas's hand in his across from the counter.

"I know technically we can't get married, you are an Angel, I am dead to the government and with everything going on, I get it, besides we are also soulfully married—especially when you marked my soul", Dean sped through and Cas held both his arms.

"Dee, breathe", he said and Dean took deep breaths, "Are you done?", the Angel asked, "Technically I should ask you to keep being my husband but—Marry me?", Dean asked and Cas chuckled and kept a similar shaped box in front of Dean's.

"Only if you will marry me too", he said and it was Dean's turn to be surprised, "Wait, wait—I had planned a big speech", Dean said and got up and knelt in front of Cas.

Cas chuckled and turned to face his soon-to-be-fiancé, still seated, "Ok I am not great with words, actually I am probably the worst there is", Dean said and Cas cupped his face and gave Dean a kiss on his forehead.

"But that's the thing baby, you understood me every time, every single happiness, pain, doubts, we never needed words and that was enough. You stood by me and rebelled for me when you didn't know a lot about me, and even when my brother hurt me at times, even when I barely knew who I was... you never let me fall. Now even I don't know how to describe my feelings for you in words, I hope you understand me Angel. You've been my anchor... my home. Ol Iad Zacarol, Cas", Dean said and Cas smiled a few tears slipping out.

That was the closest Dean came to 'I love you', it meant, 'My love is for you, always', and that was the truth.

Dean never said 'I love you', for him those three words were cursed, he said them to his mother, who was no more, one time he said to his dad, who verbally abused him for that and one time to Sam and he well, we all know what happened.

So Dean never said those words to Cas, because Cas was his forever always, "Yes", Cas whispered and Dean snapped out of his thoughts, sliding the ring onto Cas's finger.

The Angel captured the hunter's mouth in his, getting up, "That was beautiful Dean", he said before kneeling in front of Dean.

"Dean... I have watched you for so long, and I have seen everything you are. Your courage... your stubbornness... the way you carry everyone's pain on your shoulders... and somehow, still make room for love. Even when you thought no one could understand, I did. Even when you thought no one could stay... I stayed. I chose you, over and over, in every possible way. You have been my anchor, Dean. My heart. My home. Every moment with you is eternity. Every laugh, every touch, every glance... I carry it inside me. I have seen your pain, your fear, your loneliness... and still, you made room for me. You made me... everything I am. You taught me what it is to be human, what it is to feel love without limit. Not with just words, not with just my heart... but with every atom of my being. My soul is yours, Dean... forever. No conditions. No hesitation. Just you. You are my forever", Cas whispered, voice breaking softly.
