Cas cleared his throat, keeping his eyes on the students, "Angels... are bound to their duties. Choosing one human over all others can have consequences — but the specifics are... well, that's complicated", he said trying hard not to kill his husband.
Dean smiled, preparing his next question, and smirked at the class, "So... can an Angel really leave a part of themselves in a human?", he asked.
Sam groaned and covered his ears, humming to block whatever Dean was planning,
Cas froze mid-breath, his thoughts spinning. That wasn't exactly what Dean meant... but it was close enough.
"Yes, it is—only if their souls are tied and they are soulmates, which is rare... to very impossible", Except us, he added silently.
"But why do you want to know about that—", he stopped, everything hitting him at once and Cas looked at Dean surprised.
His eyes widened as Dean bit his lips again and nodded slightly, confirming Cas's suspicion, "What?", Sam also asked, having failed to shut Dean's voice.
"Ok, next question", Dean said stopping Sam and Cas from celebrating or cheering, or both and Cas tried to compose himself.
"Are Nephilims real?", "Yes very rarely, near zero—but yes", Cas said getting down from the table as he looked at the watch.
He was grinning as he picked the final question, "How does one kill a Nephilim? Can they be killed the same way an Angel or demon is killed?", Nick asked.
Cas and Sam frowned as Dean's hand subconsciously went to his stomach, fear gripping him, Dean has never been afraid.
Well, he has for Cas and for Sam, but mostly angry and in despair, but now he was terrified, "Why do you ask such a question Nick?", Cas asked.
"Nephilims are powerful aren't they? They aren't good with humans either", Nick replied smugly, his eyes going to Dean's hand who immediately removed it looking murderous.
Before Cas could answer the bell rang, "Maybe next time", Cas muttered, deep in thought and all except Sam and Dean got up from the seats shuffling out of the classroom.
"Nick", Cas called, stopping him and all four were quiet till the last person walked out and the door closed.
"Why would a student ask about how to kill a Nephilim?", Cas asked and Sam and Dean felt the air shift.
"Just, a knowledge, you said knowledge is power, professor", Nick replied, "Yes, I did, but I never teach specifics about killing", Cas said taking a step forward.
"Too bad", Nick said and lunged with an Angel blade, Dean and Sam were surprised at how fast he was and how they hadn't noticed, but Cas was faster.
Within seconds Cas had slammed Nick onto the table holding him there, Cas was an Angel and he led a garrison and leads a new generation of Angels now, of course he saw it coming.
"Who are you?", he asked his eyes glowing a bit and Nick laughed, "I am a warlock shape shifter", he replied.
"That explains why we couldn't identify you, warlocks are master at deception and hiding", Cas said, not loosening his grip.
"I was banished from my World and so I came here", Nick said, "We don't want the explanations, why did you ask about killing a Nephilim?", Dean asked both him and Sam getting up and walking towards Cas.
Nick stayed quiet, but he had an evil smile on his face, "Killing a Nephilim powers them up like nothing else does", Cas answered and Dean pried the Angel blade out of Nick's hands and pointed it to the shapeshifter's throat.
"Oh, so you thought you'd come after the one protected by an angel?", Dean asked and Nick looked at Dean's stomach.
"Your Nephilim is so much powerful than the one which was born few years ago, their grace is starting to attract visitors", Nick said and stopped as he felt the blade bite into his skin, burning.
"I'm surprised you didn't figure it out earlier, Angel", Nick said looking at Cas, "But it is part of you, you wouldn't recognize your own grace", he said.
"Cas", Sam said, "I know Sam", Cas said thinking, "Let me kill the Nephilim, it's easier for all of us, I won't even scratch your human", Nick said and Dean looked at him like he was crazy.
"You know what happens when Nephilims are born, they kill their parent from whom they are born", Nick goaded and Dean saw Cas's grip falter.
"You are not getting my baby, asshole", Dean said and stabbed the blade into Nick's neck, killing him.
"Dean", Cas said looking up from the lifeless body of Nick, "I'm sorry, but he was coming after our baby", Dean said.
"Guys we have to leave before anyone else sees this", Sam said interrupting them and Cas snapped his fingers removing Nick's body.
They immediately left, "When Nick said this baby was more powerful than the one born before he meant—", "Jack, yes", Cas said as Sam asked the question.
Cas who was sitting in the back was in his deep thoughts as they drove back to the bunker, none of them spoke.
"Cas", Dean called, stopping Cas in his tracks when they were in the bunker and Cas turned to look at him.
"We have to abort the baby, Dean", he said his voice cracking and Dean felt his World tilt, "What? No! Just because the asshole said—"
"He was right Dean, about the birth part, the baby... it is powerful enough to hide itself from me, just imagine—it could kill you", Cas said interrupting him.
"It? It's not an it Cas, it's our baby", Dean said, "Sam back me up", he said and Sam looked at them.
He and Eileen have been trying for a baby for a year now, with no results, so he would love for his brother to have one, but at what cost.
He had seen his brother without Cas and it had terrified him and he didn't want to know how Cas would be without Dean, it will be catastrophic.
"Sam?", Dean asked again, "You are not wrong, Cas", Sam said and Dean looked at Sam angrily, "You are not wrong either", Sam countered.
"But we have to think this through", Sam said trying to calm the tension, "There's no thinking it through", Dean said.
"We are having the baby and if I am going to die giving birth—then I will", Dean said and Sam and Cas looked at each other.
"I've died hundreds of times. Pointlessly a few times. For Sam, a few times, and for nothing more than that, but now—"
"Oh shut up Dean, stop talking so righteous", Cas cut in stopping Dean short, "How can I raise a baby? I don't know anything about human babies first of all", Cas continued.
"Wait a minute", Sam said a thought coming into his head and the husbands looked at him, "Will the baby be... a baby when they're born? Because Jack wasn't", Sam said and all three looked at each other in shock.
The room was silent and somewhere deep inside Dean, something shifted—aware, and listening and Dean kept a hand over his stomach.
