Ps; This will have 2 different endings, but this is like 3 chap long so you have to wait for 2nd ending a little while longer...
Sam and Dean have been having a perfectly normal life for the past six and a half months, ever since Jack became god they never met face to face with any demons, Wendigo, monsters, etc.
Yes, they did meet with some ghosts but never anything dangerous like before, but there was still a gap where Cas was absent, but it was never deep at least not for Sam.
"It's been long since we talked with Jack I wonder how he is?", Sam asked entering the kitchen that morning.
"True, but he probably is busy, but we can call him and check out", Dean said flipping the pancakes.
"Jack?", Sam called and Jack immediately popped into the kitchen, "Hey guys", he said and the other two smiled.
"Hey Jack how are you?", Dean asked, "I'm good, been a little busy creating a new heaven with Cas-", he stopped immediately as Dean stopped cooking his eyes trailing upwards.
"I'm sorry?", he asked turning around, after turning off the stove and Jack looked away, "Cas is alive and ok?!?", he asked his voice raising a bit.
"Yes", Jack said, "Oh and he didn't think to come down here and tell us?", Dean asked, "He, well, he wanted to but he saw you happy and we had some work", Jack said.
"That's an excuse", Sam muttered, "CAS! CASTIEL GET DOWN HERE", Dean shouted and Cas popped down.
"Hello Dean", he said solemnly, "Hello? HELLO? THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY AFTER SIX MONTHS?", Dean asked.
"Six months, 17 days, 12 hours, 13 minutes, 55 seconds and running", Cas said, "AND don't SHOUT at me, you can't summon me when you need me and throw me out when you don't", Cas said and Dean felt like he was slapped.
"There are no demons for you to fight, you don't need me, you never did, if you ever needed me except to fight and heal, you would have called me in these past months", Cas said sitting down.
"So if you are done, I have some work to do, can I leave?", Cas asked putting on his charming smile and Dean was silenced.
"How do you know we don't fight demons?", Sam asked snapping them out, "Demons were never meant for mortals in the first place, it was sort of a trial and it never worked the past half-century", Jack said.
"What?", Dean asked confused and Cas rolled his eyes, "Sit down", he commanded and they all did.
"Half-century ago the shadowhunter consul, the greatest one ever, tried a new thing where they would let less harmful demons into the mundane world, your world to see if you could defend yourselves, if not they would interfere", Cas explained and Dean and Sam's jaws dropped.
"They have been observing and they learned that the hunters were the ones from the line who left shadowhunting and it has gone worse the past 50 years", he continued.
"So as soon as I came out of the empty, I took away all the hunters' sight as soon as the shadowhunters took control again", Cas finished.
"Why?", Dean asked, "You never liked living this life Dean, you didn't want to believe in angels, didn't want to be involved in anything supernatural, you came from the line who ran away from this, all you ever wanted was a normal life for you and your brother", Jack replied.
"But still...", Sam trailed, "If given the choice, let's say absolute need, will you sacrifice each other?", Cas asked and they paused and shook their heads.
"They would, shadowhunters were born for this, they are warriors, and they like doing this, they train and fight and do this, it's their adrenaline", Cas said.
"They have sacrificed brothers and sisters, spouses, children, and whatnot to save your world", Cas said.
"That's why Alexander Lightwood-Bane wanted to expand the world, try and see whether the world can survive without them, and well, you saw what happened, so the last thing Alec did before he retired as the Consul was to take back the control of the world", Cas said.
"What is the difference between having the sight and not?", Sam asked, "Simply said, they can see the protection runes I have put around this bunker and you can't", Jack said simply and they nodded slowly.
"They are voting for the new Consul today, I hope it's Max, I mean Alec had been in that position for 120 years, and thank god they are finally allowing him to change, I mean he is the best they had since a long time and they want to keep that, but Max is great, Alec trained him, but other candidates are also good", Cas said to Jack as Sam and Dean thought through Cas's words.
"Of course you want Max, you have a soft spot for him", Jack teased and Cas blushed slightly, "It's nothing like that, I like Lightwoods more", Cas explained getting up.
"Oh please you like Herondales more even if they are a pain in your ass, especially Will and Jace", Jack said and Cas rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, Max is not into anything of that sort now", Cas said and a fire message flew at him and Dean and Sam ducked.
"Max is the consul", he said slowly at first, "MAX LIGHTWOOD-BANE IS THE CONSUL", he exclaimed happily and Jack jumped up and down clapping.
"And you tell he isn't interested in you? He personally messaged you", Sam said and Dean shot him a look but Sam ignored it.
"I don't know, he lost his wife 35 years ago or so, I mean, what?", Cas stuttered turning red, "I knew it", Jack muttered.
"Ok we are not having this talk, I have to go and congratulate Max, if you need me call me, only in dire need, but I don't think it will come to that though", Cas said.
"Wait Cas that's it?", Dean asked and they both looked into each other's eyes remembering the minute before Cas died, what he said.
"That's it isn't Dean? I think we were done with each other long before, you needed me and I was there, I was there every time you called, you still threw me away when you didn't need me, so I guess, that's it", Cas said.
"But what about-", Dean started, "I needed to be at my true happiness to summon the empty and that was my true happiness, so that's that, it's time for me to really move on Dean", Cas said and Dean went to talk but Sam held Dean's shoulder stopping him not for the first time, but for the first time not wanting to.
"Can we see the shadowhunter world one time before we lose everything related to it?", Dean asked and Cas and Jack looked at each other.
"We'll ask Max and tell you tomorrow", Jack said and the two vanished, "How did our normal life turn into hell?", Dean asked.
"He waited for you for 13 years, I think he deserves to be happy, especially for what he has done all these years", Sam said and walked away.
