roots

I cherish the pain that it takes to form me,
mold me into the delicate person I am,
into whoever this universe needs me to be.
I take and lose each thing in utterly funny agony,
I couldn't explain it any better -
I am my own storm and sunny weather
and nothing in me, but change is forever.

there's something greater that I've become, something more than who you know me to be -
I am only scattered energies
from my fingertips to my feet.
I am not the earth, but an entity of gravity
I am not the fire and yet there's a burning heat that fuels me
I am not the water, but the water is in me
yet none of my tears or sweat are mine to keep.
I am not the air, but the air that I breathe becomes part of me
and in the next exhale I am entirely new and I am not stuck, but free.

I am not the body only -
I am the soul, ever growing like trees
but I am not the stem or leaf
nor the bark, nor the branch
I am nothing, but the root of all
that this world wants to express through me.
