"High Council, I stand before you to ask for your sanctuary," you spoke clearly.
Your voice carried through the vast chamber, steadier than you felt inside. The words seemed almost too small for the weight they carried. You had stood before Jedi Councils before, but never quite like this. Not with your husband standing behind you. Not with your children beside him. Not while asking the Order you had once devoted your entire life to make room for the life you had built beyond it.
The chamber was exactly as you remembered it—immense, solemn, almost deliberately intimidating. The Masters sat high above you in their curved arrangement, robes falling around them as their eyes settled upon you. You could feel the scrutiny coming from every direction, some looks curious, others skeptical, and a few already carrying the quiet judgment you had expected.
You did not lower your head.
You wore your white Jedi robes beneath the hood, your hair tucked away neatly, both lightsabers resting at your hips. You had chosen to come here as yourself. Not as Luna. Not as the woman who had disappeared from the Order. Not as Qimir's wife trying to justify herself.
As a Jedi.
"The Order does not allow for Jedi to reproduce—" one of the High Council members began.
"The Order does not allow Jedi to form attachment," you cut through calmly. "It is different."
The words settled over the chamber.
And then there was silence.
Not the comfortable silence of meditation. This was different. It was the silence of an entire institution being forced to acknowledge a distinction it had perhaps never needed to confront so directly before.
You felt their eyes on you, but there was one presence behind you that made it possible to keep standing there.
Qimir.
You couldn't see him without turning around, but you could feel him through the Force. His presence was familiar enough that you could almost picture him exactly as he stood: tall and composed, his hands resting gently upon the shoulders of your sons. Noam and Serae were watching everything with wide, curious eyes, remarkably calm considering the number of powerful Jedi surrounding them.
And Qimir was calm because you were calm.
There was pride in him, too. Pride in the boys, pride in you, and perhaps a small amount of amusement at the fact that you had just challenged the entire Council within the first few minutes.
Old farts, his mind practically grumbled.
You almost smiled.
Almost.
"The Master is correct," Grand Master Gios finally said, his voice carrying with measured authority through the chamber. "We have no such rule within the Order."
