Chapter 82 - One Chance

Clutching her picnic basket, Lily hesitates at Caden's official office door. Raising her hand to knock on his office door, she suddenly remembers Mandy's words 'I was the only one allowed into his office without invitation'. If Mandy was allowed to enter without permission, why not Lily? She's the Luna and his fated mate after all, she is done being passive, where had that gotten her so far? With that Lily raises her foot and kicks open Caden's office door, and storms in.

Caden and Jaxon are sitting at the large office desk, looking over some paperwork, when they look up startled at Lily's abrupt entrance. Lily stares at Jaxon coolly "Beta Jaxon, please leave, I need to speak to Alpha Knight alone". Although she would dearly love to humiliate the Alpha in front of his beta, she was brought up better than that. Unlike those nasty she-wolves gossiping in the open foyer, she would not disrespect the Alpha and Mystic Falls pack in that manner. Jaxon glances at Caden hesitantly as he stands to leave. Caden nods his head to his Beta, signalling Jaxon to follow Lily's command "as you wish my luna" says Jaxon with a nod to Lily, as he strides out, closing the office door behind him.

Lily walks over to Caden's desk, and slams down her picnic basket on it. She is trembling with supressed anger.

"Little mate, are you alright? You are trembling, what happened?" says Caden as he quickly stands, moving around her desk, and taking her hand in his. He looks alarmed that she is upset.

"How many??!!" Lily demands

"How many...what do you mean?" he looks confused at her question

"How many she-wolves will I need to hear about, that you have been with? How many other women, besides myself, have you slept with? What is your number, so I can prepare myself for how many times I need to endure hearing about your numerous exploits? How many were promised the title of Luna?!!"

"You want to know how many women I've been with besides yourself?" Caden looks surprised at her question.

"I already know about Ava, Crystal and now Mandy. How many more should I prepare myself for?"

Caden takes a step back from her, looking alarmed "Lily darling...I don't know what you have heard, but it's clear there has been a gross misunderstanding. I'm an open book to you, and I will answer any and all of your questions. But I can see you're very upset right now" he raises her knuckles to his lips, kissing them to try and soothe her "calm yourself little mate, you are still recovering" he glances down at the picnic basket "what is this for?"

Goddess damn it, his sweet kisses are making the bond throb. She doesn't want to like them, and her damn wolf is preening at her mate's attention. Lily pulls her hand away from Caden. She will not let the bond override her intentions. They need to have an honest conversation once and for all. Lily looks at the picnic basket, a pang of guilt hits her, she forgot about taking the kids on a picnic, they are waiting in the VIP suite with a nurse for her "I was taking the children on a picnic. I promised Xavier we would explore Mystic Falls, but I got waylaid" she rubs her temples, she keeps losing focus on what's important.

Caden picks up at the picnic basket and grabs her hand "come on, let's take the kids on a picnic then. I'll be your guide to Mystic Falls, and I will answer all your questions and put your mind at ease"

"I don't want Xavier hearing our conversation. He's much wiser and older than he appears" Lily states

Caden nods his head "we'll bring Christie as our guard, she can mind the children, while we find a place to talk in private". He starts leading her out of the office, when she turns her head and sees it. Hanging on his office wall is the blood moon mural she painted. Lily gasps and drops Caden's hand walking towards the painting, her most treasured work, she poured her heart and soul into creating this artwork. For an artist, seeing your artwork on display, brings forth so many emotions. It was like seeing a long lost loved one again.
