I was reading a story today and while I was busy mentally screaming at one of the characters I realised something.
Sometimes when you love someone or you at least think you love them, it blinds you and you don't see things about them that will really turn out for the worst.
And especially if there are two people involved, despite the fact the other treats you better, and they're kinder and things are simpler and everything just fits you will still choose the one who you're always fighting with, and who's actions aren't too good.
I realised that from an outside point of view it seems stupid and you can't understand why they would do this to themselves.
But when you're in amongst it you don't see it properly, you don't see how you and the first person actually don't work, and because you're so hung up on them you don't realise how great you and the other could be.
I realised that we choose to poison ourselves simply because we can't step back and look at think objectively. We lead with our hearts and ignore our brains.
We choose to poison ourselves by refusing to admit to being in a toxic relationship, by refusing to admit that it's time to let go.
Because as humans we are so afraid, afraid of change, of being wrong, of being hurt.
And instead of facing this fear we will sit back while our world burns around us, in the heated moments of another argument, in the way it drains you to be around this person.
So please when your friend tells you that your relationship isn't any good for you, listen and really really think before giving your answer.
Don't just blindly defend it and lose a long time friend over a relationship that really isn't worth it.
Please don't let yourself be so consumed that you can't realise when a situation is no good for you, especially when there could be a perfect one right around the corner.
