Perhaps it was your smile that drew me in
or maybe it was your shiny golden locks
But it doesn't matter
either way I fell under your spell
That disarming smile
Those silky locks
Or maybe it was your eyes
Those globs filled to the brim with chocolate.
I don't know if I'd ever be able to loook away
That is, if you hadn't opened your mouth
It was cruel
It was ruthless
Saying words that cut to the core
Laughing about me and my family
When I heard that beautiful chime in such a horrid way
My heart broke
You say it was a mistake
an accident
You say you didn't mean it
But it's too late, boy
I'm not yours anymore
But apparently, your mine.
You tried to capture my attention
tried to give me gifts
Even tried to show others what I was to you
But none of it worked
Until you tried to kiss me.
I locked myself in my room
I heard you trying to get in
Then I saw you in my front yard
diggin a huge hole
I wanted to yell
but then you brought out the tree
The tree that you said meant new beginnings
and our new life together
and I didn't believe it
that those sweet words came out of your not so sweet mouth
And I began to wonder
Maybe it was sweet after all.
