I watch as Josh hurls the rock at the Moon. It's twenty-five feet in the air, then falls. The rock drops on the football field. Josh turns back to me.
"Just wait, Alan. One day I will be able to throw a rock to the moon." Josh says.
I roll my eyes.
"I highly doubt that." I say.
My name is Alan Will. I'm a fifteen year-old freshman in high school. I'm not very popular at school, so my only friend is Josh. He isn't "sane". Well that's what everyone else says. Josh climbs back on the bleachers, sitting next to me. It's Sunday night and we decided to go to the school we attend.
Josh looks at the sky. I follow his gaze. The moon is a crescent at the moment. I stare at the sky for awhile, until a strong gust of wind pushes both me and Josh off the bleachers. We're tossed in the air and hit the grass. Hard. My eyes are closed tightly as I take deep breathes, attempting to ignore the pain.
I hear heavy footsteps getting closer to us. I open my eyes. I gasp when I see a tall figure aiming some sort of gun at Josh; The gun is transparent and long. The figure holding it presses the trigger as he stands over Josh. The ground vibrates as a maroon colored beam emerges from the gun. Josh yells out in pain, then another strong force of wind blows us across the football field.
Again, I'm flung in the air. I shout and come crashing down forty feet away. What's happening?
"Alan! Help!" I hear Josh painfully yell.
I turn my head. The tall figure is wearing a thick coat, his pants are dark. Large sunglasses cover his eyes, a bandana covers his mouth. His fingers are pressed against the trigger of the gun, the dark red beam is obviously hurting Josh.
I summon as much strength as I can, and get to my feet. Josh is blown away and zips across the football field. I clench my fists and rush at the man.
Rage flows through me. I swing. My enemy slaps me across my cheek. The pain is extreme and I fall to my knees. Then he roughly grips my shoulders and hurls me a far distance away. My body smacks into the fence.
I helplessly watch the man push the gun to Josh's chest.
The world becomes darkness.
