Chapter 25:The Fray

Alan-

Mersidion retrieves two crimson swords, then engages in a fight with my dad. Two metal doors rise, and dozens of Nitave soldiers swarm into the room. One Nitave presses the trigger of his gun, and a blue orb exits the barrell, then comes speeding at me.

Emily deflects the orb with Telekinesis. The orb crashes into a horde of Nitaves, killing four of them. A yellowish-orange orb strikes me in the chest, and I sail through the air. Emily screams when I hit the ground.

Then Josh and Paul rush into the room. Paul heals the wound in my chest, while Josh starts expertly destroying Nitaves. When my wound heals, Paul helps me to my fight.

"Use your ultimate superpower!" I shout to Emily, hoping she can hear me over the sounds of battle.

Emily nods, but before she can do anything, a Nitave soldier knocks her down. The Nitave then tosses her, and she lands near a door. The door she landed near, opens-revealing another Nitave.

The Nitave drags her into the open doorway, and the door closes. I need to get to Emily. Josh kills a Nitave, and the Nitave's sword clatters to the floor. I rush to the sword-retrieving it and heading to the door where Emily entered.

When I'm one foot away from the door, it swiftly rises. I sprint inside the room the door leads to. It's warm inside and filled with old dusty books. I assume it's for storing books the Nitaves want to read, or boring books.

The Nitave has his gun aimed at Emily, who is unconscious. I morph my right hand into a dagger, then I impale the Nitave in his chest, killing him.

I kneel down beside Emily. Her eyes open after three seconds.

"What happened?" She asks me.

"A Nitave knocked you out." I reply."It's only been, like, a minute."

She rises into a sitting position.

"What time is it." She asks.

I check my phone, then say,"It's five minutes past midnight."

She smiles widely, then says,"I'm twelve now, it's my birthday."

"It must suck that you might die on your birthday." I say. It's meant to be a joke, but she doesn't find it amusing.

"I won't die today." She says,"You always have me back."

Then she smiles at me. I return the smile, then she leans in closer. Before I know it, we're kissing passionately.

The kissing ends after one minute.

"That make-out session was wierd." I say."You're twelve, and I'm almost sixteen."

"So." She says.

I hug her and say,"Thanks Emily."

"Lovebirds." A Nitave says, striding into the room.

I get to my feet, then I morph my right hand into a axe. The Nitave has no time to react, as I bring my axe-hand into his chest. His breathing stops, but not before he gives me one last glare.

Me and Emily rush outside the room. Mersidion is now dueling Josh, but I don't see my dad. I scan the massive room. Then I see him, fighting at least forty Nitaves at once.

Mersidion smacks Josh, sending him across the room. Then Mersidion sees me and Emily. I intertwine my fingers with Emily's, further infuriating Mersidion.

I expect Mersidion to kill us, but instead he removes a pendant from his neck. He raises the pendant so we can see it.

"I cast a spell that caused to to have dark red hair like me, so you wouldn't have your mother's brown hair." He tells Emily."But now I don't consider you my daughter."
