Maddy-

I still can't believe what I've done.

I attacked my only friend, Alan, and left him to die. I hope he's not dead, but what's the point? He most likely hates me. When we left him to die, Hank drove us back to his house.

Now, as I'm overcome with guilt, I brandish the kitchen knife. I'm sitting on my bed with the curtains shrouding the sunlight.

The knife is cold to the touch, just like my power. I'm about to plunge the knife into my heart, when Persi rushes into the room.

"I heard your mind saying 'suicide'. So put the knife down." He demands.

"What's the point?" I say."I'm a monster who left her own friend to die. Alan had a mom, she must be already worried that he could be dead every day if her life. And now he is, Alan's dead and he's not coming back."

Persi walks over and wraps an arm around my shoulder."We're leaving the country. Hank is getting tired of the Nitaves."

I move the knife away, Persi sighs in relief. Hank arrives in the room, holding two packed bags.

"Come on, guys," He says."We're going to the airport, I have Australian money and everything. Up, now!"

Alarmed at Hank's sudden sternness of the situation, I stand and begin packing. It takes me five minutes to pack, then I meet the others downstairs.

"By the way, I want to apologize for my rude behavior," Hank says to us."I just wanted everyone to know how serious this is. Now it's time to go."

At least I'm visiting a foreign country.

"How long are we staying?" I ask Hank. We're now in the car with Hank driving to the airport.

"Forever, we're never coming back to America." He says. I want to scream and yell at him, but I have no more fight in me anymore.

So I just fall asleep, wishing I could cease to exist.
