Alan-
It was so easy. Lola had a Nitave radar She had it the entire time, and while she was sleeping, I stole it from her.
I push a button and the device comes to life. A holographic image is projected, revealing the planet Earth.
"This is Persi." I say, pointing to a dot in Utah-our location-that is speeding away from another Nitave dot which is Lola.
"Can we just rescue him, already?" Maddy asks me.
I nod my head."We really should, so yes."
"Evil witch," I say to Lola."How could you send your own brother to his doom?"
"What do you mean?" Maddy asks me."Alan, how do you know this?"
I turn to face Maddy."She told me, at first I thought she was joking, but now I know she's not."
"We really need to leave." Seth pipes in.
I nod and we head to our car. Seth takes the driver's seat and we lock Lola in the trunk. She does deserve it, plus we don't want her killing us. I'm sitting beside Maddy in the backseat. The car speeds on the street, and I gaze at the desert.
Of course it's so dark that I can barely see the sands. The moon is blocked by a dark mass if clouds, the thunderstorm has finally ceased to exist, but the rain still falls. I check the Nitave radar.
It appears that Persi is being transported to a Nitave base. The bases are represented as purple diamonds. The three Nitave dots we're pursuing must be headed to the base.
We arrive at the base ten minutes later. It's located in a desert between two massive rock formations. The base is a tiny building the size of a high school cafeteria. It's white with two Nitave soldiers guarding the entrance.
We are hiding behind a boulder, observing the base. Lola was tied with ropes and stuffed her in the floorwells of the car's backseat. From a distance, I open the Earth below the two guards and watch as they fall inside the holes.
A loud alarm sounds from within the base. Ten Nitaves burst through the double doors of the base. Seth uses the moon to produce a bow and arrows. Maddy refuses to fight, so she just cowers behind me.
I cannot believe that Maddy refuses to fight. She is way too polite, hopefully I can make a warrior out of her someday. One of Seth's arrows zip into the Nitave horde. The arrow explodes, sending the Nitaves sky-high. We advance further towards the base.
The ground starts to shake, then a giant scorpion-like monster emerges from the ground. It is red with yellow eyes that glow. Seth starts to attack the monster. I swipe a dropped blaster from the ground, then I begin firing on the creature.
"Maddy, I can use some help here!" I shout at Maddy. She grabs a bow and arrow from the ground. I watch as she fired a arrow at the creature. The arrow misses the creature by about twelve feet. She has terrible aim."You should just stick to healing."
Maddy seems to get angry about my last comment. She shoots another arrow at the monster. I grin when the arrow changes from gray to red, glowing as it enters the monster's head. The monster wildly convulses, it's long tail slapping the desert floor. Then it dies.
I look at Maddy, the killer of the monster. She seems sad, like she regrets killing the creature. But I admire her now. Maybe she is skilled. Hopefully we can become friends, I'll enjoy that.
"Good job," I tell Maddy, putting a hand on her shoulder. She sighs sadly. Then I turn to Seth."You too, Seth."
Then, out of nowhere, a brown-haired girl appears. She's wearing sunglasses and doesn't seem to see us.
