Chapter 88:Maddy's Plight

Maddy-

Anthony and I continue to chat as Paul walks behind us. I discovered that Kyle used a Resurrection Stone to bring him back to life. We suspected that the Government or Nitaves had his corpse preserved somewhere, which is why the only way to bring him back from the dead was to use a Resurrection Stone.

"So, do you still draw and paint?" Anthony asks me, grasping my hand tighter. I've been an excellent artist since I was six. Drawing and painting are my two favorite pastimes.

"Not as much as I used to." I tell him. He nods and kisses my cheek.

"I'll leave you two in private," Paul says, dashing away from us."Have fun! Don't get her killed, Anthony!" When Paul disappears from sight, Anthony and I enter a kissing session. He releases his grasp on my hand and wraps his arms around me, his lips pressed against mine.

"I love you, Maddy." He tells me when we pull away.

"I love you too," I reply, kissing him. He grabs the hem of my cardigan and the white T-Shirt I wear underneath, causing me to swiftly grab his wrists."No. We're too young, not until we're married." He takes a few steps away from me, then he looks over my shoulder at something.

"Get out of the way!" He shouts at me. I turn around and see a Jaygrill standing in the distance. It's motionless, except for it's eyes, which are staring at me. The monster is silent as it observes us.

"Maddy, what are you doing?" Anthony hisses at me as I step towards the Jaygrill. It's as if it's trying to tell me something.

"It's trying to communicate with me, somehow." I reply, walking to the Jaygrill.

"Duck." The Jaygrill suddenly says. Anthony cries out and I duck. Everett's familiar sword passes over me, stabbing the Jaygrill in his leg. I turn around and see Everett on the Griffon-like monster's back. The pair are staring at us from a cliff.

Anthony has a knife in his neck, which he pulls out. I swiftly heal him, then turn towards Everett.

"Everett, stop!" I shout. He shakes his head.

"I told you I'll kill you, and I still intend on it!" He shouts back. He says something in the Nitave language to the monster, then it flies over to us with Everett still on it's back. Anthony unsheathes his swords, and approaches Everett.

"What the hell?!" Anthony yells at Everett."I thought this was over with!"

"That was before I knew Alan killed my girlfriend," Everett says, morphing into metal. He dismounts his pet monster, then speeds past me. He becomes way too fast to see, due to his super speed ability. His sword is plucked out of the Jaygrill's leg, and he becomes visible again. He strips out of his polo shirt, revealing his nicely defined muscular body. Anthony grips his sword tighter as he strides over to Everett."You want to avenge your friends I killed one year ago, so here I am. Fight me."

"Maddy, run!" Anthony shouts at me. I walk over and give him a quick kiss on the lips, then dash away. The Jaygrill follows me, easily reaching me in seconds.

"Are you a talking Jaygrill?" I ask it.

"No, it's just that you can understand me." It replies.

"Why are you helping me?" I ask it.

"Because you're a good person. When I saw that sword coming at your head, I just couldn't let you die. You don't share the same bloodlust as others of your team. Plus you are starved-looking and I know how that feels. To make us hungry and savage, the Nitaves don't feed us for weeks." It tells me, it's eyes staring at something in the distance. Darkness doesn't reign superior over the area, because there is a giant orb in the sky that glows. I'm pretty sure Sharkutt created it so his soldiers can see. The thing is, the Jaygrill is seeing something that I can't. It's extremely dark ten yards ahead of me, so I stop my running.
