Chapter 66:Josh's Recruits

Josh-

The sun hasn't risen when I awaken. I woke up a few minutes ago, I went to use my bathroom and wasn't able to fall asleep again. Candice wakes up and notices me staring at the Television screen. The Television isn't even on.

Candice looks at me strangely, before heading over to her backpack. She retrieves clothes and a toothbrush, then walks into the bathroom and shuts the door behind her. I already brushed my teeth, so I won't have to worry about that.

'You should go outside, Josh.' The Voice says inside my head.

"Why? I'm mentally insane, that won't be a good idea." I whisper to The Voice.

'Does it matter? I have a feeling something interesting will happen if you go out.' The Voice tells me.

"Just go away. I hate you, just get out of my head." I whisper.

'That's a bad thing to say, Josh. You cannot escape me, I am you. I'm the most evil side of you. You listen to me and you'll have a good life.' The Voice tells me.

"Just shut up." I whisper, almost furiously. The Voice starts speaking to me, constantly. I grab the remote to the Television and turn it on, attempting to tune out The Voice.

The Voice continues to speak, until I can't stand it after a few minutes.

"Shut the hell up!" I yell, enraged. The Voice obeys my request and stops talking. Candice opens the bathroom door and starts yelling at me.

"You shut up, Josh! I'm sick of you talking to yourself, I wish you would admit yourself to a mental hospital!" Candice yells, angrily. She slams the bathroom door shut, leaving me angry and horribly confused.

I grab my coat from the desk, then I leave the motel room. I shuffle in the snow, wandering around. I decide to walk to the nearby park. At the park, I sit on a wooden banch and try to calm down.

"Can I sit here." A girl's voice asks me. I look up and see a dark-skinned teenaged girl staring at me. I nod and she sits down beside me.

"Josh Hart, I know what you are," She says to me. I glare at her, then she elaborates."I'm friendly. I'm a Shiner and I came here to help you. You're insane, confused, and depressed. So let me help you, you won't regret it."

I don't respond. There's a boy dressed in fancy clothes and he's wearing dark sunglasses. His brown hair is well-groomed and it's obvious that he's a Nitave. He's walking towards us with a friendly smile on his face.

"Don't attack him, he's just a kid." I say to the girl beside me. She reaches inside her coat and pulls out a dagger.

"What do you want?!" The girl asks the approaching Nitave. The Nitave looks no older than twelve.

"Don't kill me, please. My dad's name is Jamicken Walbine. I'm Finterre Walbine, but you can call me Fin," The Nitave explains."I want to help the Shiners."

The Black girl puts away the dagger, but keeps her gaze on the boy.

"I'm Delina." The girl says, standing up. I also rise to my feet and walk over to Fin.

"Hello, I'm Josh Hart," I tell him, shaking his hand. Then I turn to face Delina."I'm staying at a motel with another Shiner. Let's go there and plan our next move."

They nod and I lead them back to the motel room. When we step inside the motel room, we see Candice watching T.V. I introduce Candice to my new recruits. We spend the entire day inside the motel. I fall asleep a few minutes after 12:50 A.M.

I wake up three hours later. I rise to a sitting position. Delina shared a bed with Candice and Fin slept beside me. I leave the bed and walk over to my backpack. I shower, then I dress into dark clothes after the shower. I also brush my teeth, then I walk outside the bathroom.

Fin is no longer in the bed. I wake everyone else up and soon, we're walking outside the motel room.

"I was thinking that maybe he got captured." I suggest, wondering what happened to Fin. Delina runs a hand through her black hair and Candice yawns.

"Look, Josh. I'm exhausted and I want to go back to bed." Delina says to me, angrily.

We reach a gas station and see a figure stepping outside the building, holding Skittles and a soda. Delina rushes at the figure, she's about to punch the person when she suddenly stops. The figure pulls down the hood of their coat, exposing Fin's scared face.

"I never thought you would be so happy to see Fin." I joke. Delina doesn't find my joke amusing as she turns to face me, her face serious.

"I had a dream that there was a evil Nitave stepping outside the same gas station." She tells me. As if on que, a tall Nitave rushes out of the building. He swings his sword at me, but I duck and disintegrate him with a laser blast from my hand.

I whirl around and see seven other Nitaves. I teleport behind two and disentregates them with my laser blasts. Candice and Delina rush into the battle. Candice easily destroys our attackers, but the final one wounds Delina.

I teleport behind her and catch her falling frame. I kneel on the ground with her in my arms. It reminds me of the time when Sasha died in Florida, a couple of months ago. More Nitaves charge at us, but Candice easily keeps them at bay.

"I'm sorry, Delina. I shouldn't of brought you along." I tell her, apologetically. I look down and see that her eyes are already closed, she's also not breathing. Fury sweeps throughout me as I stare at the enemy Nitaves. I retrieve Delina's dagger and teleport between Candice and the Nitaves.

I stare at them, daring them to attack. They hesitate and turn to run. There's a muscular woman with short black hair standing behind the Nitaves. She must be working for the Goverment, because any normal Human would not be so close to Nitaves in the midst of a battle.

The black-haired woman orders the Nitaves to stop running. I teleport behind the woman and chop off one of her arms. A Nitave knocks me to the ground before I can do more damage. Then all of the Nitaves surround me. I summon all of my lasers and concentrate on making them spread throughout my entire body.

My heart beats rapidly and it feels like it's going to burst out of my chest. My energized lasers shroud my body and my skin begins to glow the color of my ultimate power. My vision becomes tinted with blue, then gradually darkens.

I lose consciousness.

"He's waking up." I hear Candice say when my eyes open, then close. I open my eyes again and study Fin and Candice. They're leaning over me and I'm back in the motel.

"What happened?" I ask them, rising into a sitting position."I mean, what happened after I passed out?"

"Your body released dozens of lasers that killed all of the Nitaves. We were unharmed, but the Government agent managed to escape." Candice informs me. I sigh, remembering Delina dying in my arms.

"Sorry about Delina." Fin tells me, a sad look on his face.

"Yeah, it sucks that she's dead and it's all my fault. Anyways, I think we should stay here and train. Then, when the final battle begins, we'll be ready." I say.
