Chapter 15:Being Rescued

Josh-

There's a second knock.

" What should we do?" Danny whispers.

I gesture for him to be quiet, then I tiptoe to the door.

" Is anyone in here? I heard voices." Says a familiar male voice.

I swing the door open, revealing Brandon.

" Hello, Josh." Brandon says, striding into the room." I see my house is almost completely demolished."

" Who is he, Josh?" Tara asks me.

" Everyone this is Josh, an old friend of mine, We both lived in this house together." I tell Werus, Tara, and Danny." Brandon these are my friends."

" This is Tara." I say, gesturing to her." The Nitave is Werus, and the other teenager is Danny."

Brandon nods before smiling at everyone." Don't worry Josh, I finished off the remaining Nitaves."

I nod before fist bumping him.

" I'm glad you're back." I tell him." Where were you all this time, anyway?"

" I was in the Shiner Dimension, training myself, preparing for the final battle against the Nitaves." He explains." Now let's head to Arizona, it's time to be on offense for once."

I nod, and take Tara's hand.

The five of us leave the mansion, and pile into Brandon's SUV. When I get inside the vehicle, a beagle that was on the floor comes up to me, and licks my hand.

" Who's he?" I ask Brandon, referring to the dog.

" Varlu. I found him surrounded by Nitaves, so I rescued him." Brandon replies.

" Sorry, buddy." I tell Varlu." I didn't recognize you, because you usually don't shapeshift into a beagle."

Varlu leaps on my thighs, and shuts his eyes, most likely going to sleep.

Tara takes my hand and looks into my eyes, I smile at her. After losing three loved ones tonight, I am going to make sure that none of my other friends die.

I look at Werus, who is currently putting away his assault rifle in the trunk of the SUV. I gaze at Danny, who is snoring away in his seat. I shift my gaze to Brandon, who is in the driver's seat patiently waiting for Werus to get inside the vehicle.

I will not let them be hurt.

Alan-

Mack drives the SUV. Macy is seated in the passenger seat, and me and Tim are in the backseat. I watch the street lights pass by. A single rain drop descends on the window, followed by more. Soon, it's pouring outside with rain dominating the streets.

My cell phone rings. I retrieve the phone, and answer it without seeing who's calling me.

" Alan it's me, Josh." Josh says." Don't go to the house, just head to Arizona."

" We're already planning on going there, after going to the mansion, we planned on going to Arizona." I tell him.

" You met other Shiners?" He asks.

" Yes, and a Nitave." I reply.

" Alan, there's something I have to tell you." Josh says. His voice has a hint of sadness.

" What is it?" I ask him.

He takes a deep breathe before saying," Nora, Pasetto, and Sasha were killed by the Nitaves, we were attacked earlier."
