Jace-

I send one of my knives into the heart of a Nitave, then I whip around and do the same to another one. Josh disappeared awhile ago, leaving us to battle the Nitaves. Kyle sends three Nitaves into a wall by a shockwave, and I finish the pair off.

Lexie's sword breaks in half as it strikes the shield of a Nitave. The Nitave is about to stab her with his own sword, but I rush to Lexie's aid and impale the Nitave with on of my numerous knives.

"Thanks." Lexie tells me, taking a dagger from a desk and killing a nearby Nitave with it. The battle lasts for a few more minutes, until the final Nitave dies by one of my knives.

"We should leave!" Ernie yells, letting his daughter go up the ladder-our only exit-first. I leave last to make sure there aren't any more Nitaves, then I ascend the ladder. When I resurface, there are numerous Humans staring at us-all bloody and wielding weapons.

We ignore the Humans as Ernie tells us he has a escape vehicle. He leads us outside the city, then guides us behind a parking lot of an abandoned building.

"I hate to leave Josh." I tell Kyle. He nods, without saying a word. The getaway vehicle comes into view-a white Malibu. Ernie quickly gets into the driver's seat as Kyle takes a seat in the passenger's seat in the front. I sit in the backseat, along with Ernie's daughter.

Lexie takes her seat on the other side of Ernie's daughter, then she shuts her eyes.

"What's your name?" I ask Ernie's daughter.

"Call me the Young Death." She replies.

"Why do you want me to call you that?" I ask her. I study her-she's wearing a black dress and dark makeup.

"I can talk to Death himself." She replies, as Ernie begins to drive.

"Oh yeah? What does Death say about me?" I ask her.

She seems to be focusing then she says,"You will die the day after tomorrow."

I swallow hard. And for the next hour of driving, I cannot stop thinking about my imminent death.

"Don't worry," Young Death says to me, placing a hand on my shoulder."I'll make sure your last days are happy."

"Thanks." I tell her. I don't show it, but I'm angry. Young Death is weird and probably insane, she's probably making this all up.

"She's serious." Ernie tells me once we're all inside a hotel room. Young Death is asleep, I still don't know her real name. I'm sitting on the floor of the hotel room, Ernie is at the desk and he's speaking to me.

"Who's serious?" I ask him.

"My daughter, she's serious about you dying in a few days," Ernie says to me. He elaborates further."She was suicidal a few years ago. She was thirteen when she attempted suicide y drowning herself. She was successful, but I was able to resurrect her. A few minutes later, she started responding to something someone was saying. It was just the two of us in the car."

"So can she actually speak to Death?" I ask Ernie, listening well to what he is telling me.

He nods."One day when we were headed to Barbados on a plane, to hide from the Nitaves, Young Death whispered something to me. She told me a elderly woman on the plane was going to have a heart attack and die when the plane landed in Barbados. Young Death was right, the old woman did have a heart attack when the plane touched ground. The two years we spent in Barbados, was pleasant. But Young Death ruined everything. Last year when Young Death was fifteen, she publicly revealed the people about her ability to speak to and hear Death. We got weird looks and a few people became terrified of her, so we fled to New York City. I used a spell to create the underground hideout there, that's where we lived for the past few years ever since Barbados."
