CHAPTER TWO

Maine could clearly remember the day she met Louise and Enzo.

It was the time na nakapila sila sa labas nang OB Gyne more than a year ago. Sinasamahan niya noon ang ate niya na almost seven months na ring buntis.

Nataon na sobrang dami nang patients nung panahon na yun, magkatabi sila ni Louise sa waiting area, kaya nagawa na nilang makapagkwentuhan.

Napasarap ang kwentuhan nila na Maine found herself asking the other woman whether she wanted to meet up at a better venue next time.

Madaldal siya na tao pero sa totoo lang e mapili siya sa kinakausap.

Kaya nagulat pa ang ate nya noon na ang dali napanatag nang loob niya sa bagong kilala.

But she and Louise really clicked well together.

And in that time she learned that Louise was engaged to another man before she met Enzo.

She had been with her fiancé, RJ, for three years when they decided to take their relationship to the next level. RJ's sister, Gabrielle, however, was then diagnosed with leukemia.

RJ's family decided to temporarily relocate to Baltimore where the best leukemia treatment facility is found.

May kaya ang pamilya nina RJ and no expense was spared in ensuring his sister will get the care she needed.

Like a faithful girlfriend, Louise waited patiently for RJ back in Manila.

Ngunit ang naging kasama nya noong panahon na yun ay ang boyfriend ni Gabrielle na si Enzo.

He and Gab were pretty much a new couple pa lang at that time and as Gabrielle's situation worsened and Enzo was unable to be with her, Louise became his source of comfort.

That led to them getting closer and eventually developing something they were not supposed to.

Something that was not right.

And in her book Maine wrote the struggle that Louise and Enzo went through when they both realized they were starting to fall for each other.

The struggle only intensified when they kissed, trying to prove to themselves that what they were feeling was nothing but instead realizing that no matter how wrong their situation was, the right thing was for them to be together.

It terrified the both of them, most especially Louise.

She did her best to get as far away from him as possible and Enzo was left in confusion about what to do next.

Should he run after her and tell her that maybe, they ought to be together? Or should he allow her to get away because they both belong to someone else?

"Nung bumalik kami from Baltimore, I knew something was different" Gabrielle cut in on her musings.

Maine refocused on the woman across the table. "You knew?"

"I didn't know about them" Gab answered "But I knew Enzo was different. A woman's intuition never fails diba?"

"Did you know it was Louise at the time?"

"No. I never actually thought it was her because we rarely got together for a long time and Louise always seemed so in love pa rin with kuya."

Maine remembered Louise saying how she became sweeter and more caring towards RJ because she knew in her mind that he was who she loved, he was her ideal man, he was the one she always dreamed of.

"And your kuya felt the same way?"

Gabrielle pursed her lips and raised her hands to cup her face. "Hindi ko masasabi exactly kung ano ang mga nararamdaman ni kuya nung time na yun e. Hindi namin napag-uusapan ang mga ganyang bagay. Pero I know about everything that he did to Enzo in the course of this part of our lives."
