Tony Tuviera's email started simple enough.
The older man had told RJ that after the successful discussion they had, he wanted to be upfront to RJ and show him what the future of his publishing company was going to be like.
He wanted RJ to understand what his vision is.
If it is going to be a partnership, then it isn't only the Faulkerson's company that will bring in something to the table. The Tuvieras would be bringing 50% as well.
He gave RJ a preview of the upcoming line-up of books per season and they all looked good but one book, in particular, caught his attention.
She had seen Maine's name and zoomed in on the book immediately.
It was untitled but there was an attachment to it.
Mr. Tuviera had actually sent him drafts of the books.
If that didn't spell out how much the businessman trusted RJ, hindi niya alam what else it could mean.
They were going to sign a contract next week and Tony was here giving him the opportunity to back out if he didn't like what he'd see.
Kahit na alam ni RJ na ginawa lang niyo ito para masigurado na hindi mai-pa-publish ni Maine ang libro nito, he was happy to meet a businessman who was very much like his Father – someone tenacious, clever, but was honest to the bone.
He immediately clicked on the draft for Maine's story.
He skimmed through it first and was surprised to find 10 chapters of it.
Kelan nagka-oras ang babae na yun na sumulat?!
Is this how fast she really wrote stories?!
Since he had read the first book, he remembered that that ended with Louise and Enzo's character deciding to make things work as they left him and Gab behind.
RJ found himself heading to his kitchen and taking out a bottle of mineral water and downing it in one go.
Alam niya na retribution story ito para sa kapatid niya pero was he ready to read about himself kahit na sila na, supposedly, ang mga bida sa librong ito?
Besides, what could a woman as angry as Maine, write about his character?
Sigurado siya he would be butchered again.
Sigurado siya wala siyang mababasa na maayos dito.
He hardened his heart and braced for what he would see. He took his laptop and sat down the lazy boy near his unit's veranda.
He was going to dive into this head on.
After 20 minutes, his character was introduced in Chapter Three.
Carina was nursing a hangover. She did not appreciate the familiar sound of her brother coming in her room and shaking her awake.
"GET UP SLEEPY HEAD!", it was as if the person he was talking to was in the next room.
"STOP!", she screamed right back at him and hid herself deeper into her sheets. She wished her bed would eat her up and hide her for the day.
"Robin and I are going to go out for breakfast and you're coming with us!"
She didn't want to eat. She didn't want to move.
Last night with her girlfriends had been the first time she got drunk as an Irish man and she has earned the right to stay in bed for the whole day. Her brother was not going to ruin that for her.
