Gab put the phone down and uttered a prayer for her brother's safe flight.
They had continued talking up until the moment he needed to board his plane.
Nagawa din nitong makausap ang Mommy nila, si Ruru, si Kris, pati na rin ang nakatatandang kapatid ni Maine – si Nico.
Each one of them told him to trust that his girlfriend will be ok. Each one of them told him to focus on getting home safely. Each one of them assured him that when the operation ends anytime that he is on the plane, they will immediately call him or message him. Nico even joked that RJ can continue his "Chinese" tradition of visiting her in the morning. Gab had to smile at that and she was sure that even her brother must have cracked a smile.
None of them told him the truth of Maine's accident.
They all feared what he could start thinking if he knew that Enzo was involved and that Louise was also in the operating table now, fighting for her life.
He didn't need to build a volcano of anger on a six-hour flight back to Manila.
"Baka mapatay niya si Enzo" Kris told all of them on that uncomfortable car ride going to the hospital "Dahil kahit ako ngayon gusto kong patayin si Enzo."
And when they had all arrived, both he and Ruru were almost immediately kicked out of the hospital because they had punched Enzo square in the face.
The man suffered a broken nose and a dislocated jaw and was immediately stitched up in the ER. It was only due to her Mom that both men were allowed to stay. They were, however, given a warning and since then, both brooded away from her ex-boyfriend.
They managed to eventually calm down after Maine's father talked to the both of them.
So as of the moment, Enzo was staying in the waiting room for the OR on the other end of the hallway.
Nag-desisyon si Gab na harapin ito at kausapin.
She stood in front of the other waiting room's door and took a deep breath.
Louise's family had already arrived there and was as stunned as they were nang magkita-kita sila kanina.
But there was no time to be awkward as two lives were on the line.
Hindi alam ni Gab kung tulad ba nang fiancé niya e sinisisi din nang mga ito si Enzo but she hoped not.
It was not a thing that she had courage to say now, especially, as emotions were high but alam niya na what happened was purely an accident.
It should not be blamed on Enzo.
The accident could have happened on any other day.
He was not the one who caused it.
She hoped he knew that.
But as she remembered the look on his face nang sugurin ito nang mga kaibigan nang kuya niya, she feared that just like his brother, he must be blaming himself.
He did not put up a fight or even raise his arms to at least protect himself from the punches.
At after suntukin ito ni Ruru, halos hindi na ito makatayo dahil bumigay na ang mga binti.
It wasn't just the blood gushing out of his face or the way his nose had completely split in the middle but his whole aura seemed to scream that he would receive any punishment, he would take in any punches thrown his way, or if he could get killed right at that moment he would be at peace with it. His eyes were haunted and glazed with remorse.
Nang inawat niya si Ruru at Kris, yun ang nakita niya.
She recognized that because it was the same aura she wore for months after their break-up and he had run off with her brother's fiancée.
