Rehearsal dinner went smoothly.
Maine stood up from her chair and before she knew it, RJ was at her side, pulling the chair back and offering his arm to her.
The guy was a perfect gentleman.
And she had just agreed with him that this was all going too fast and they were both afraid of that.
She knew how it was to fall in love with someone. She knew how it was to feel despair. BUT... this was the first time she was about to feel that ALONG with someone.
Maine had never been in that kind of position before and even though she had written about it, she appreciated now that no words could ever be immortalized by pen to convey the depth of happiness one feels in knowing that they are about to embark on a journey with someone else.
"I asked for all of your stuff to be moved to my suite" RJ told her as they crossed the garden threshold.
"ANO?!?!"
He smirked. "Wouldn't it be weird for us to be staying in different rooms when everyone here knows that we're together?"
Napa-atras siya nang kaunti doon.
She had not even thought about that.
"Pero –"
"It's a suite, Maine. There are two rooms. We don't need to share one" his smirk grew wicked "Unless you want to, though."
She swatted at his shoulder, blushing and raring to change the topic. "I had a perfectly good room. Sana di ka na kumuha nang suite."
"Ok lang pala sa'yo ang magkasama tayo sa isang kwarto" he answered casually and then headed for the desk "Sabihan ko sila na dun na lang tayo sa room mo ulit, if available pa rin."
Agad niya itong hinabol para awatin. "RJ!!!!"
He looked at her in earnest. "Oh?"
"Anong "Oh" ang sinasabi mo dyan?!?"
"You offered your room."
She knew her blush was not going to go away anytime soon. "I wasn't thinking clearly" she admitted "Inisip ko lang kase yung gumastos ka pa. But you seem ok with it so dun tayo sa two rooms."
He barked in laughter and shook his head at her. "I promise to you na there is nothing that I will do to you... unless you want me to."
She was hardly a high-schooler and she was hardly inexperienced in flirting of this kind but it was so easy for her to lose her footing and act like a sacrificial virgin whenever RJ made these kinds of jokes.
Bilang hindi din naman siya makahanap nang isasagot e dumiretso na lang siya papunta sa elevator. "Anong floor tayo?"
"I rented out the suite right next to Pat's para hindi mo kailangan sobrang ma-abala bukas kapag pupuntahan mo na siya for the preparations."
Nakahinga siya upon realizing that RJ seems to have dropped his teasing.
She knew how much she enjoyed being with him and talking to him and having him close to her and just a while ago, she received the assurance she was looking for but her heart still pounded like two hundred horses decided to take residence inside her rib cage.
He didn't say he loved her.
It was decidedly too early for that really and if he had said it, she knew that she wouldn't trust those words at all.
Wala pa rin naman siya sa point na masasabi niya dito na mahal niya ito e.
But he had perfectly captured everything she was feeling when he said: "I'm not sure that what I will tell you now will re-assure you but the truth is I feel the same kind of fear sometimes too BUT I feel that fear along with excitement at being able to just see you, happiness in being able to talk to you, and longing in wanting to be as near to you as I possibly can. I feel all of it ALL AT ONCE. And I feel all of it everytime now."
